My chances...

What do you think my chances are?
I'm a white, catholic male; junior; from Georgia:

SAT IIs- None yet, but I'm taking math (predicting a 750 or so), Chemistry, Biology, and spanish.
Class Rank- My school doesn't give them, but I'm pretty sure top 15%
After graduation, I will have taken 10 APs (Calculs BC, Statistics, Chemistry, Physics, US History, Human Geography, English Language, English Literature, Spanish, Spanish Literature) and 8 honors classes (English I, English II, Geometry, Algebra I, Algebra II, Precalculus, Biology, Chemistry).

The Play (theatre)- Secretary

The Baylor Notes (school newspaper)- editor

Applying to (sort-of in order):
Northwestern/Georgetown
Harvard
Columbia
George Washington/American
Johns Hopkins
Tufts/Boston University
Syracuse
U Georgia (backup)

I attend a fairly prestigious school, Baylor School. It's very prestigious in the south. It's also relativley competitive.

I'm interested in journalism and political science.

What do you all honestly thing my chaces are? I will be applying to Medill so that will just make it harder right?

No one...?

average applicant chance, about 25% i'd say

Anything I could do to help boost those chances these last years?

I'd say you have about a 50/50 chance. Apply ED and you'll have an even better shot. And remember essays are HUGE for NU.

Hmmm, does ED really help THAT much, because I'm not SURE that NU is my top school; it's between NU and Georgetown, and I just don't know. I'd hate to know I'd be missing out on such a helpful opportunity.

ED really helps... trust me if you looked at the stats, about 50% admit rate for ED, and overall admit is 30%, which means RD admit rate is lower than 30%

Raise your SAT score. 100 points or so will greatly improve your chances. Good luck.

sat & gpa are both a bit low without any type of hook.

25% chance are you kidding me? I know standards have gone up since I was a freshman (2001), but your qualifications are definitely on par with most people I knew at NU. I think you have a pretty good chance, especially if you rock the essays.
