my chances

hey yall i just got deferred from Penn and im pretty bummed about it but i hear great things about pomona i was wondering what u think my shots are at an ed2

come from a waspy small conservative pubic school in westchester, ny

my numbers...

my gpa- 3.74 (unweighted)

writing-730
world history-720
math 1c-680

im taking a most rigorous schedule now with 4 ap's, spanish, calc, bio and eng. lit

other ap's 5's: world history, us history 4's: writing

u might have a chance. although pomona adcom really likes to see people with amazing ec's and solid leadership...that stuff. i'd say 50-50. good luck

I'm not sure about Pomona specifically, but lots of LACs/Ivies are very into Lacrosse, so your experience there will probly help.

Sorry to hear about your deferral. One of my D's friends was outright rejected. Ouch!

As for Pomona, I think the personal interview also contributes a great deal to the app process. If you're thinking of applying, you should contact the Admissions Office ASAP to request an alumni interviewer. Your SATIs and your MathIC score may be a bit on the low side for Pomona as well.

If you truly feel that Pomona is a good fit for you, and that's the place where you want to be, give it a shot. If you don't, you'll never know. Good luck!
