I got a 25 on the ACT and I haven’t taken any SAT subject tests, but I wanna see how low (or high) my chances are of getting into CPP’s engineering program. I’m really set on becoming a civil engineer but my math grades are horrendous. I got a Cs both semesters for Algebra 2/Trig HP and a D/C- for Pre-Calculus Honors. I got a B in my Calculus class first semester and I’ll probably get a B second semester too. Any luck? Will a high ACT score help a little bit or a high SAT math level 2 score?
CPP admits by eligibility index and major. Engineering is impacted, so you need competitive test scores and grades especially in Math to have a decent chance.
First you need to calculate your CSU/UC GPA: https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
Then calculate your Eligibility index: (CSU/UC GPA x200) + (ACT comp x10) or (CSU/UC GPA x 800) + (SAT Math + CR).
I would say your Math grades will take you out of the running for any Engineering majors at CPP. Take a look at the CPP decision thread for this year and see how many very qualified applicants with solid ACT/SAT scores and GPA’s were either waitlisted or denied.
Once you have your CSU/UC GPA, repost and CC posters can help guide you with some more realistic options.
CPP and the rest of the CSUs won’t look at SAT subject tests in determining your admission.
They have a cool tool for calculating you Eligibiliy Index here:

With a 25 ACT - i think you’ll need a 3.7ish gpa to be competitive for engineering programs at CPP.
What is your GPA?
