Hi!! I’m a high school junior, so I’m thinking a bit ahead here, but I’m pretty sure my top school choice isn’t going change.
My top school is in Northeastern, I have a few backups in mind, including some in Boston because I love the city. I want to major in International Relations
I currently go to school in New York State, and have taken my regents and all that.
My GPA is a 100.16 weighted, and honestly, I don’t know my unweighted.
My school only offers 5 AP classes (AP Bio, AP Physics, AP Euro, APUSH and AP Portfolio.)
I am currently in APUSH, and will be taking AP Bio and AP Euro next year, possibly AP Physics if it’s worthwhile and fits.
I am taking college French and Precalc this year, next year I will be taking college English, Calculus,
I have over 500 volunteer hours, run cross country and track, and do the musical in the winter. I am in leadership, student council, NHS and all that, I am also rather good at writing essays.
APUSH is going well so far, I was able to get a 99 on the first test and essay, which doesn’t happen often in my school.
I also come from a poor family, if that helps? I have a single mom working two jobs, and she makes around 30,000 a year.
I took my PSAT last year and got a 1350 with no studying, I am taking it again this weekend. I plan on taking my ACT/SAT in May/June.
Math is definitely what brings my GPA down, I typically get mid to high eighties in it, but I think it’s good for me to keep advancing with the harder courses, because I really do try.
Any advice would be nice, I have a whole year before applying. Thanks in advance!!
