You're pretty much a lock, in my opinion.

In fact, your stats are good enough to be compettitive in the Scholar program which awards merit aid. http://www.college.emory.edu/current/achievement/scholars/

Though, I am unsure whether or not that program considers ACT scores. SAT scores are usually mentioned to be around/in 1500s for merit aid by way of ESP.

By the way, I can't believe you got a job at Sears. I never knew they hired high school students. At least my local Sears, anyways. I had a brief "scuffle" with them.

Polkadotprincess, your chances for acceptance at Emory are excellent. Your GPA is sterling, and your ACT score of 34 puts you above the 75th percentile of enrolled first-year freshman students. As well, it sounds as if you have challenged yourself academically with what rigorous courses have been offered at your H.S.

Your profile would place you into a competitive space if you apply to the Emory Scholars Program, and I agree with Blaze991 that your stats would be looked upon favorably. If you look elsewhere in the Emory forum, you will see a lot of mention in other threads.

An acknowledged strength at Emory is their pre-med track. Whether you choose a science major or a humanities major, you can also take the pre-med classes required to gain entry into med school. I'm a strong believer in the liberal arts tradition as a means to round out a student's educational experience. Aside from this opportunity at Emory, there is the broad influence of many graduate schools and institutions. As notable are the research and internship possibilities, including opportunities at the nearby Centers for Disease Control and the American Cancer Society. I wish you good luck!

i think you have a good chance with your competitive test scores and excellent GPA but i would suggest that you show a direction in your ec's. they are good but dont give us a sense of your passion. try to bring that out in your essays and i think you'll have a great shot at admission. good luck

Thanks for the help. I will remember your advice amadani when it comes to writing my essays.

I wasn't aware that college board offers british lit... and apparently, neither is their own website. Perhaps you mean english lit?

some schools refer to ap language and ap lit as american and british lit respectively. they are the same thing.

we just call it brit lit for short. it's the same thing as english lit and the same ap test.
