Hi everyone im a junior at a magnet highschool in california with these sats:

Unweighted GPA: 4.0
Classes I'm Taking this year: Chemistry H, Integrated Math 5-6, US History H, English H, Spanish 4, Psychology AP, PreCalculus, and Physics...

so far im getting an A in every class except physics...

and when i take practice sats with Kaplan, Princeton Review, etc. I score around: 2000-2100

I'm also in NHS, CSF, Robotics Team, Volunteer at Hospital, Political Awareness Club, Key Club, BioMed Club

so my queston is: if i was to get perhaps a maximum of 2-3 B's total this year, and the rest A's, will that hurt my chances of getting into UC's such as UCLA, Berkeley, UCI, as well as USC and Stanford?

Well, it's rather difficult to tell you. Colleges look at the full scope of things; they look at your transcript and try to find any pattern. Did your grades improve as your progressed through high school? Did you start taking more challenging courses? Did you do badly one year but rebound the next?

Assuming that you got straight 'A's in your sophomore year and you took significantly less challenging courses than you are right now in your junior year, I would say it would not hurt you very much, if at all.

Assuming you got straight 'A's in your sophomore year and you took lots of Honors and AP courses just like you are right now in your junior year, it would not hurt you very much, though it might not leave the college with a very good impression. Though keep in mind this would be pretty darn Slight. I highly doubt it would affect your admission decision, so don't worry about it.

(Edit: Hah, apparently you did get straight As, I just saw the part where you said your unweighted GPA was a 4.0 :P )

Also, that is just taking into account the transcript. If your SAT and SAT II scores are high, then your ever so slight dip in grades your junior year can be overlooked, so to speak. As things stand now, you're on track for a pretty good chance at admission to UC Berkeley, UCLA, and USC. (I will tentatively say that UCI is a Match for you.) Also, rack up as many other Extracurriculars as you can and score high on those SAT IIs. Your SAT score of around 2000-2100 is very good. I'm sure that once it comes down to the real deal you will score even higher, and if you can your chances for admission to Stanford would be much greater.

Feel free to post back sometime in the future for your chances : )

Sorry, can't help you with chances (don't know much myself), but: are you in FIRST robotics? If so, which team? I'm on 997 (hence my name) at Corvallis HS, Oregon.

and to respond to gplayer, my school has this weird curriculum where we start taking honors classes junior year, but every other class i have taken freshman/sophomore year has been called "accelerated"..
