thanks SO much guys, i appreciate any help=)

Hopefully your SATs will go up since the rest of your profile looks good. Be sure to point out the upward trend in GPA and that its a top 50 school. These all seem like realistic schools for you.

If you could get your SATs up to about 1250/1300.. itd put you in a better position.... Im a freshman in SMG this year and i think they said the average SAT was 1290... this is based off of M/ V by the way... I was also a low income/ first generation college kid.. i believe it helps... a majority of the kids here are from the upper middle class.. soo i think they like to see kids who have fought through some economic adversity.. but considering your gpa is around 3.3 or so unweighted with an 1100/1640 SAT.. its going to be a struggle for you to get into both SMG and CGS... It is still very possible.. but right now your fighting an uphill battle considerin how competitive the college application process is getting......... but anyhow you do still have a shot.. good luck

thanks for the help guys!!

does BU look at freshmen year grades?
does it count into overall GPA that they look at?
because my GPA is around a 3.55 UW without freshmen year grades, but a 3.2 something with freshmen year grades=(

but my overall pattern in high school is always progressing.

They'll look at freshmen year.

All schools look at freshman year but they focus on sophomore and junior grades and they like to see a trend up. Some schools figure a gpa based only on two years and others figure one for core classes - so kids don't benefit or get hurt by their art or dance or PE class grades. It varies.

They look at all your years, but it seems like you made a significant improvement from freshman to sophomore year. The only thing is, how are you compared to other students in your school? If you are in a very competitive school, there are so many students competing for the same thing, so you have to make sure you shine above them. Your stats show that you are an all-around student, but try getting your SAT scores up.

By the way, I got a 1200 on my SATs. I came from a high school that nearly failed their accreditation testing. I received decent grades and obtained a couple of leadership positions within my high school (yearbook editor, spanish honor society secretary, art club secretary). I also played piano. So I think BU may forgive you with SATs (still try to get them up though to be on the safe side) if you show you are an all around student...but don't take that as a guarantee that you'll get in. Good luck!
