If you have an SAT score of 2200, could you get into the ivys --;;? Let's say that you have amazing extracurriculars...

You'd have a decent shot at Cornell. Also, maybe, maybe Penn, that is, if your grades were very good and you were ranked in the top, say, 10, in your class. The other Ivies would be long shots.

You can't narrow admission down like that. It's something like: 2200+ on the SAT, most rigorous courseload (many APs/IBs/honors), 4.0 GPA or close to it (a B here and there is fine), various ECs with leadership positions, school/county/state/national awards, great recommendations, good writing skills, and a passion for something that shows through in ECs and awards. I think many of the Ivy-acceptees have hooks of some sort.

i'm just worried that my low SAT scores will keep me out.

2200 if you tthink about IS NOT LOW. its just low for ivies <xP
If you want to turrrrbo generalize:
2200 + good ec's + good grades= maybe at cornell and penn, but not at all at the others.

wth 2200 is also not low for ivies, its about the middle. Any with good ECs, you have a decent shot. BTW, GPA is more important than SAT scores =)

average accepted kids (with a little inflation) for harvard is round 2170. Of course, this includes the music geniuses, the athletes and the$$$ Kids

^^ those make up a very small portion of the entire student body, so they don't really skew the average SAT scores much.

Such a noob question... Yes, a 2200 is a very good score and makes you competitive for Ivy caliber schools. Top desirables such as HYP may require a little higher.

However, SATs will not be the determining factor of your application. Let's say that getting a high score just gives you a chance to even apply. Read some of the previous acceptance threads and you will know how random this process is.

Woohoo!!! :) 500th post!!!
