<p>Hi, I've just registered and would love to get an opinion about my chances both at top schools and those one tier down.</p>
<p>white female
senior in fall
gpa: 4.0/4.67 (UW/W)
sat: 2230 (730 cr, 740 math, 760 writing)
sat2: 760 (ushistory), 730 (math 2), 760(lit)
rank: 2/300
aps: 5 - eng language, 5 - us hist, 4 - calc bc, 3 - french
classes:
9th - honors alg. 2, french (didn't offer honors), honors bio, health/geography, drama, honors eng, pe
10th - honors precalc, honors french, honors chem, world hist (no honors), journalism, honors eng, pe
11th - ap calc bc, ap french lang, honors physics, ap us hist, journalism, ap english lang
12th(projected) - multivariable calc (taken through a college), journalism, ap english lit, government/econ, social psychology (taking independently at community college), creative writing (at community college)</p>
<p>extracurriculars and such:
- odyssey of the mind team captain for 2 years (advanced to state level both years)
- played piano for 10 years
- CSF for 3 years
- went to COSMOS last summer (summer math/science camp)
- school newspaper writer 2 yrs, will be editor-in-chief 1 additional yr
- interned at a local newspaper
- have won a few awards for writing (nothing particularly distinguished)
- worked for a month as a paid staff writer for a national australian magazine (in australia)
- paid layout editor for the heartwood institute's monthly bulletin (a neuropsychology research institute)
- dance ballroom/latin 10ish hours a week (have only done it for a year)
- will be performing with a team at a raiders halftime show in september
- taught ballroom dance at a retirement home
- started a peer counseling program at school with my friend
- on the school's site leadership team (group of 10 people, makes major decisions)</p>
<p>There's other random stuff, but I don't want to be too long.</p>
<p>I'm pretty sure my essays will be good, and my recs should be reasonably good as well.</p>
<p>I'll be applying as a clear english/humanities person and I think my strength/"passion" is my writing and, more recently, dancing. I'm thinking of applying to ivies and other top schools, as well as UC's and some easier lower tier schools. I'd love just a general opinion of how I'm looking and any tips for what I could do in this last 6 months to improve my stats.</p>
