My chances?

First off, I do not want any biased answers from people who only want to go against Drexel. Please just tell what my chances of Getting in are. I would like to go to the Business School at Drexel. I'm going to be a senior at HS this upcoming year. My Stats:

GPA: 4.5
Class Rank: 7/372
SAT: 1240 out of reading and math sections (590 on reading, 650 on math). I am taking the SAT one more time, and I plan to take 2 SAT Subject Tests (mathematics level 1 and US history).

In terms of my HS classes, I've taken all AP and honors classes throughout all 4 years. I've taken Honors U.S. History I, Honors English II, Honors Biology, Honors Chemistry, Spanish 3 Honors, and A.P. Language and Composition. I have taken all of the math's up to this point: Geometry, Algebra II, PreCalc. I have only had one B during a marking period this last year in English, but still got all A's throughout the rest of my High school career and an A in every class for the year. Next year I will be taking A.P. Environmental Science, A.P. Calculus AB, A.P. Eng Lit and Comp, and Spanish 4 Honors (along with some electives).

My extracurriculars include:
Freshman year: Football/Weight room (this was Monday, Wednesday, and Friday every week of the year).
Sophomore year: History Club, and Spanish Club.
Junior Year: History Club for some, Treasurer of Bible Study Club, Treasurer of Spanish Club.
Senior Year: I plan to keep up the same stride and be in 3 or 4 clubs, and hopefully will still have leadership positions in those clubs.

I also have volunteered at some events at a local Parrish, the Red Cross, and I plan to volunteer very soon at my local library. I do not know if colleges look at this but I have also been working at a grocery store for my junior year and will be for my senior year as well. I work there about 4 or 5 days a week.

Thanks for any information

Chris -

I feel that you have a great chance of acceptance into Drexel. Perhaps you may be considered for the Penonni Honors program, though your SAT's will need a bump. (Which you seem to be working on.) Additionally, you'll probably be considered for some of the scholarships offered here. Otherwise, write a strong essay, and you have a great chance of success.

Out of curiousity, what are you planning to study in LeBow? And why have you chosen Drexel?

Fox is better than LeBow. You'd be wasting a ton of money by going to LeBow instead of Fox.

loslobos71 - "Fox is better than LeBow. You'd be wasting a ton of money by going to LeBow instead of Fox."

Well, saying Fox is better than LeBow is very relative. Fox is better in some areas compared to LeBow, and visa-versa. I actually encourage Chris to seek multiple schools and find the school that best fits him. If it turns out that Fox provides what he seeks, than that is great.

Regarding tuition, if Chris is out of state, wouldn't that be expensive as well? He'd have to live off campus for 2 years before he is considered a PA resident.

It would still be cheaper than Drexel...

loslobos71 - "It would still be cheaper than Drexel..."

Maybe. I guess it would depend on scholarships, on-campus/off-campus, etc.

<a href="http://www.temple.edu/bursar/about/tuitionrates.htm%5B/url%5D">http://www.temple.edu/bursar/about/tuitionrates.htm</a> <- Fox is roughly $20-grand.

<a href="http://www.drexel.edu/em/undergrad/financialaid/tuition.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.drexel.edu/em/undergrad/financialaid/tuition.html</a> <- LeBow is roughly $33.5-grand.

So perhaps you are right. But, again it would depend on scholarships, merits, where you live, etc. Plus, can't forget about the co-op income.

Co-op is a joke.

loslobos71 - "Co-op is a joke."

Some are, yes. Luckily, I knew what i was doing, and found the some of the best co-ops offered. My background is certainly unique, and some would say very unsual given my age.

I am a NJ resident so the amount of money in financial aid and scholarships is going to have part of an influence on my decision. The co-op is attractive, as Twisty said, if you find the right ones. Right now I am looking at many colleges and I am focused on making the best overall decision in terms of best fit in education, cost, and how much I actually think I will enjoy my life at that university.

If you enjoy being around predominantly all guys--by all means go to Drexel.

loslobos, can i ask u something?? do you have a life?? it seems as if you spend your entire life on here insulting drexel. why not go participate on the discussion board of a school you like? you seem to be the type of person that has no friends and takes joy in being an ******* online because it makes u feel like tough *. Sure go ahead and make vague insults at drexel and the ppl who go there, but honestly no one gives a * what you say because you have no basis for your statements and obviously need a good ass beating.

i'd love to know, what college did/are you go(ing) to??

and your statement about being around guys is completely idiotic...the 2011 class is 50/50 boy to girl ratio not to mention drexel is in PHILADELPHIA. maybe if you ever left your house at night or you know...maybe had friends, you would know what a CLUB or BAR...hell even a RESTAURANT is. Generally girls can be found at these locations..and once you grow some balls..maybe you can talk to these girls one day.

chris, i'd say you are definitely in barring you don't do anything "dumb" on your application. Hopefully you can bump ur SAT's up into the 1300's and do well on your SAT II's; this will make you a shoe in for the honors program.

I posted in one of the other threads about how I just partied at Drexel...

Obviously you give a **** if you found the need to retort.

nyjd1339 -

Although I understand your frustration, I think it is safe now to leave loslobos71 alone. He is entitled to his opinion, and I suppose we must respect that. Not everyone can see the glass half full. As you had mentioned, his arguments don't constitute any premises so his conclusions lack evidence or support - meaning most won't take his posts seriously.

It's ok...I enjoy proving people wrong when it comes to Drexel image. I love to see their reactions when I tell them how much I've accomplished. One day, loslobos71 may change his mind, maybe he won't. But regardless, it dosen't make him a 'loser' or any of the '***' words that has be thrown around in here.

What about the people who truly dont like it there?

Well thanks for the response on my chances nyjd1339.. hopefully everything on here can cool down and people can just have their own opinions of Drexel, like Twisty stated.

loslobos71 - "What about the people who truly dont like it there?"

I honestly think those who hate Drexel just haven't put forth their end of the stick to get the education. You are right, there are people here who completely despise Drexel and are unhappy. But, I think you can find that on most campuses across America. There is a high correlation of people who are both 'lazy' and 'hate Drexel' on campus.

It doesnt seem fishy that literally everyone I've met who attends dislikes it? I do live in the area, so it's not like this is 3 kids I'm talking about...
