My Chances?

I know these threads can get sort of obnoxious but I was just wondering what people who don't know me personally might think of what I have to offer, much like an admissions officer. So...

white male from New Hampshire (small state advantage?)

go to a public school in outlying suburb of Boston with surprisingly good reputation (has sent kids to MIT, Brown, Wesleyan, Wellesley, Columbia, NYU, etc.)

GPA: 4.99w, 3.98uw
RANK: 1 of 362
SATI: 740CR, 730M, 780WR (2250)
SATII: 770MII, 740CHEM, 720FR

Classes:
- 3 APs (only seniors take AP level classes so it sort of limits the amount)
- Essentially all honors the rest of my high school career, I would say 'hardest workload possible'
- Took eight classes this semester in an attempt to catch an eye or two

ECs:
- student council for 4 years, president last two
- captain of varsity swim team last four years
- captain of a community ymca swim team last four years (on it for 7+ though)
- captain of envirothon team (on it for three years), went to national comp.
- two years in national honor society (only juniors/seniors admitted)
- school newspaper for four years, editor last two
- marching/concert band for four years, officer last two

Awards:
- a bunch of 'scholar of the month', 'academic excellence', 'principal's list' type of stuff
- received a college book award for scholarship/service
- national merit commended scholar
- nominated for a Comcast scholarship, only one student per high school
- newspaper 'editor's award'
- leadership recognition from community swim team
- new england regional swimming qualifier (not really an award I guess)

Summer:
- worked 40+ hours a week at a ymca day camp geared towards underprivileged children

Recs:
- decent? I didn't get to read them but am assuming they were good haha

Essays:
- wrote one about my passion for art/creativity (going into architecture)
- the other 'influential person' was about the inventor of corrective lenses and how glasses let me see/clarity of life/blah blah blah

Other:
- have some college art class credit (not really... real... credit, you know?)
- father didn't attend 4 years of college because of $$ (advantage?)

anyways, that's my app in a nutshell and thanks to anyone who decides to read through all of it

Have you sent an art portfolio by any chance? :) That might help.... And I think you have a good shot... All the best.

Reminds me of myself, except I am not into art much. I hope we both get in!

Ok thinking about it, it doesnt remind me that much of myself, just that we both had 2250's on SAT 1 and then the same total for our SAT 2's combined.

Are you being recruited to swim at college? If so, you have an excellent chance with your stats. If you are a junior, then start making contact with the swim coach via email soon with your event times and stats. Check on the swimteam website for the times of their swimmers to see if you are competitive for the team.

If you're not being recruited, I would say you have a decent shot, but you're certainly not a lock.Your EC's are solid and show a strong level of commitment, but they're lacking in originality. Your stats are pretty good; they don't hurt you, but they don't really jump off the page either. Being from NH won't make any difference. Geographic affirmative action, if that's what you're referring to, definitely doesn't benefit kids from New England. Being interested in architecture makes you stand out from the rest of the applicant pool, so if your essay was well written, it could give you a strong boost. Best of luck.

Average Chance in Scores. Excellent Chance if You are Recruited for Swimming. My counselor use to say that an Ivy 2260 was the necessary SAT, but it varies I guess from person to person. Best of luck.

Your rank, testing scores, and extracurricular activities are very impressive.
You are a strong candidate, in my opinion.
