I've captained three varsity sports, i'm in the top ten percent of my class, i've volunteered for four years at my local community center, I had a 620 verbal, 650 Math, 580 Writing and a 27 ACT composite score. I've also been involved in many clubs throughout my four years in high school and taken a very hard schedule. Chances??

Hellooo...

to be competitive, you're going to neeed higher SATs. right now, i'd say davidson is a reach.

i think davidson is a reach for almost anyone, moreover, unlike other schools davidson does not put a huge emphasis on sats like other top liberal arts colleges. when i went to discover davidson weekend, the students told me that one of the best things about the school was its admissions, and how they really look at the applicant as a whole. you can look at davidson's common data set and see that sats are "considered" and not weighted as much as other things including academic rigor, leadership, and volunteer work.

I think you absolutely have a chance. Let Davidson know how much you want to go there. Contact coaches if you want to play a sport. I know wrestling needs to fill some weight classes. My daughter will graduate from Davidson this year. She only had a 1200 SAT. She was 7th in her high school and was a good student but did struggle with math. Several factors tipped her admission I think. She applied ED, attended the Davidson College summer program where she had a recommendation letter from a professor, and she was legacy. I'm sure the alumni status helped. However in fairness she has done quite well at Davidson with mostly A's and a few B's. I think that validates the idea that SAT's aren't the best predictors of success. Good luck to you. Davidson is a wonderful school.
