sounds pretty good to me. Make sure you play up your ecs and interests, try and tie something together (like volunteering with academic interests or future aspirations). How can you have a 5.9 though? That seems crazy high, especially if you have a 3.8 unweighted. At my school to get a 5.9 you'd have to be getting As in practically 8 APs all 4 years of highschool which is silly because it's only possible to take 12.

NYU shouldn't be a backup, as in a safety. maybe a good match

If her school weights accel/honors classes in addition to APs and every class can be taken at an accel/honors level, then a 5.9 is possible.

Jenny44: while your weighted GPA is nice, cornell really doesn't care about it lol. It's an unweighted, recalculated GPA that they look at, based on your original grades. They credit your APs and honors courseload when they look at the difficulty of your classes.

Your stats are very good. While your SAT isn't a knockout score, it's still very very good and completely competitive with other applicants. Good luck on those SATIIs. What is your unweighted GPA? Your ECs look good too.

Make sure to wrap everything up and present it nicely; don't just "throw it in a box and mail it to cornell." Present it in a way that links things together, showing how one activity builds off another, and that you do all that stuff not to get into college, but rather because you enjoy it.

I say you have a very good chance, but remember to take your other apps seriously and that nobody is a lock at any school.
