my chances

<p>Hello
I am looking forward to applying to Reed (and totally want to go there) in the fall and would like to know my chances of being accepted.</p>

<p>I have lived abroad for three years in Germany and attend an international school where I partake in the IB program</p>

<p>My courses are
English A1 Higher Level
Physics Higher Level
European History Higher Level
Spanish B (equivilant to 5 years)Standard Level
German B (equivilant to 5 years) Standard Level
Math Standard Level</p>

<p>My GPA is difficult to translate into American numbers, but I assume it would be around a 3.70 unweighted. </p>

<p>My SAT scores were
M:720 CR:640 W 620</p>

<p>I took the subject tests and totally bombed them.
Math II 600 Physics 580 Literature: 720</p>

<p>My extracurriculars include</p>

<p>Concert band
Speech and Debate
Softball
Trivia Night
hiking
rock climbing
self taught French</p>

<p>I have worked with NATO over the summers in the arts and media departments</p>

<p>I have gone on two service projects to Slovakia. </p>

<p>I am half white and half hispanic</p>

<p>This article, from the Reed Alumni Magazine, does a good job of laying out all of the factors considered when the admissions committee evaluates applications:</p>

<p>To be honest, no one here can really give you a firm estimate of your chances. We don't have your transcript and application in front of us, we haven't seen your essays or teacher recommendations, and we also don't know what the application pool will look like this year.</p>

<p>But, it sounds like you have a solid grades, some great extracurriculars, and other positives in your favor. The article above, especially the information on page 5, can help you evaluate yourself in terms of what Reed's admissions committee is looking for. </p>
