I am just very, very nervous about this phase of my life and any yes/no's would be great.

Race: Indian - Moved here during the 5th grade
Class rank: 1/766
GPA: 4.0
Sat: 2400
ACT: 36

My senior classes:
AP Biology
AP Chemistry
AP Calculus BC
AP Physics C
AP European History
AP English
AP French

Other stuff:
-I play starting QB for my schools varsity football team and I have 3 letters from it. I'm ranked 2nd in my area for quarterbacks (includes 40 schools). I have played since Freshman year. Recruited by 3 division 1 schools, but my parents do not want me to play football so I have to rely on academics alone.
-I play varsity basketball as the starting point guard. I have since my Freshman year.
-National Honor Society President
-Class President

Awards:
-All state QB
-Hall of Fame inductee of 09 at my school for QB
-Scholar Athlete all 4 years
-Student of the year all 4 years (only 1 award is given out).

I am very nervous as I have almost little to no volunteer hours. I only have the bare minimum to keep NHS membership. I am very, very busy and I almost get no time. I have had people tell me that this will be a deal breaker, so this has disheartened me greatly.

Despite my athletic commitments, I am a very shy person. I almost never "hang out" with any friends as I am always very busy, I just go to practice and then go straight home to study. I fear that this has made me a sort of recluse as I prefer to be alone than with others, thus it could be a negative point.

I am thinking of just applying to Penn State because I really don't want to get rejected from a school I love so much.

lmao. indian (asian) male playing varsity qb, recruited by 3 d1 schools… that’s really unique. i’m asian, used to play football, and i regret quitting. 2400/36… you’re in everywhere unless you are completely incompetent socially.

edit-extracurriculars are a big part of your admission too… you know that, right?

and why aren’t you getting recruited to play football at some ivies if you are good?

academics, leadership AND sport.
if not princeton, then definitely some good ivy league.
be confident bro, and keep up the indian name!
Me indian too, but not even close to all you have achieved (except maybe rank 1. and thats out of 60 from a school of rich brats in india, so no biggy)

um, i’d say that you’re in. class rank…wow. but is your school good/have a good reputation among ivies? has anyone from the school been admitted to princeton in recent years? maybe you should send an email or call the coach…even if you aren’t good enough to play for them interest means a lot and you never know, that coach could let admissions know that you may tryout for the team. it just seems like you have a talent in athletics. let princeton know that you may be adding to the amazing athletics program.

also, my sister had a similar problem with community service. she goes to amherst and the smaller LACs care even more about community work than the ivies. she did something very smart and at the start of october went to the local hospital and volunteered for 8 HOURS every saturday and sunday for the month…she then got a letter of rec from one of the head nurses (or someone i dont really remember) and attached it to her common app. i know this seems terrible but i swear if you are worried…do it! if you don’t have 16 hours a weekend like she did, go do a walk/run for breast cancer (athletics combined with service…great :)) Not all Princeton admits have amazing community service records so doing a little more than you are doing isn’t hard and will definitely help! good luck!

This is, most likely, a fake post. So, I predict, in at Princeton & rejected at PSU because they can spot a fraud from a mile away. Academic world vs. real world.

It eases me to hear that what EC’s I have at the moment will maybe suffice.

My football career (and athletic career overall) is very short lived, as I am not physically ideal for the sport. My 5 ft 6 stature got me through in high school, but I would not be able to perform at the collegiate level. Throwing deep is also very tough for me because my shoulders are not very strong, which is another major negative for a quarterback. My receivers have been amazing for the past 3 years, they have carried the team but I have been falsely credited. I would be nothing without them. I would really rather not disclose the schools that showed interest in me, but the best school, academic wise, was Stanford. They pointed out my physical flaws, and said I was most likely not an ideal candidate, but I had a chance to get playing time later on. Redshirting is really not ideal for me, as I wish to attend med school and spending the extra year would be a draw back.

My school has a great track record for sending kids to Ivy schools. It is ranked as one of the top 100 schools in the US by US News. Last year we had 12 kids accepted into to the Ivy school of their choice. The avg GPA at my school is about a 3.4.

I wish I was perfect, but that is far from the truth. All of my achievements are because I worked my fingers to the bone to earn them, I never had much of a social life. I’m not even allowed to watch TV on the weekdays. My parents pushed me to play sports, run for student council positions, and get straight A’s. My SAT/ACT scores were after doing poorly the first time, then studying 2 hours a day combined for each, every day, till the day of the test. I -wish- I was perfect, but in reality, I killed my youth for this.

I have wanted to attend Princeton ever since I learned about them through my school in the 6th grade. Thank you all very much for reassuring me about my chance of acceptance at this amazing school.

Man, I’m so glad for you! You’ve got as good a chance as anyone (or better). Perfect stats, urm (i think?), genius, athletic… Princeton would be my ideal school but I didn’t try hard enough my first two years of high school and any hope is out the window (no transfers :(). Good luck man, I’ll be pulling for you! Make sure to lets us know in March how it all turns out! :)

Please don’t waste more of your life on fake, barely-creative posts at CC. You’re not going to derive much entertainment from here. I suggest renting a movie or something instead. Maybe some anime. Don’t fret too much about this–we’ve all had some wish to ■■■■■ one time or another =D

yeah it doesn’t matter if your 5’6, if your that good, an Ivy League would be recruiting you. They need the football players with the really high test numbers to balance the athletes they bring in with mediocre test scores. If THREE D1 schools are recruting a 5’6 quarterback, you would bet that an Ivy League, such as Columbia whose football team is horrible, would beg you to be on their team, especially if your number 2 in your region. This post seems really fake to me, and pardon me for the disbelief but I am Pakistani, and I have a hard time believing that an Indian kid at 5’6 is being recruited D1 and is the number 2 QB. Are you on rivals or scout? probably not. FAKE

Sorry, but I play football for my school, and I am almost positive this is fake, All State QB with 2400/36?? AND NO IVY LEAGUE RECRUITMENT?? Wow this is such a fake I can’t even believe this, you must be some random kid who has the test scores, but is living in a fantasy of being an All State QB. What’s your name and school? If you are getting recruited you have to be on scout or rivals

No 5’6" quarterback is recruited by three D1 programs (even the Ivies). I know. My son is a very talented and very short 5’8" linebacker/fullback.

I’m sorry, I can’t believe this thread. URM, All State QB, Varsity Point Guard Freshman Year, 2400 Sat/36 ACT, Class President, 4.0, Great EC’s, 7 AP’s Senior Year, and Student of the Year all four years. This is why i think it is fake. All applications have to be turned in by January 1. How could he be Student of the Year 4 times, when his senior year is only half over?

It’s is highly unlikely to play varsity basketball in a school of about 3000 students at the height of 5’6". Same with football.
No, I’m not a ■■■■■.
I’m 5’10" and I didn’t even make Varsity Basketball. I’m not bad, but I can’t dunk and that’s become the standard where I live.
