I’d say that it’s going to be a crapshoot. Your ECs are kind of weak–I don’t see a lot of leadership & I don’t see much community involvement either. But, you could always opt to write a killer essay and get great teacher recs which could always help.

not bad I think. I can’t call people as good or bad since I don’t know whats good or bad for adcoms, but w/ a good essay(s) ,recs, and some elaboration on your ECs, I think you could make it. Thanks for Chancing me too!

oooh what made you decide perf studs? thats my declared major (ED) and i hadn’t yet seen anyone else with it! Honestly, stats wise i’d say its a crapshoot. They’re very similar to mine, but esp with perfstuds i think EC’s and essays will be your make or break. so really, it all comes down to how you presented your ec’s/ theater experience and how strong your essays were. i’m convinced those were the tipping points for me.

anyway, i am really interested in your interest in performance studies! how did you find out about it? and did you visit?

I don’t know how much SAT’s and SAT II’s count for admissions in that particular major, but I just wanted to clarify a previous poster’s comment… I’m pretty sure every section of the SAT for NU is at least a 670-680+ on average. Anyway, I think it’s more of a reach because of your scores, but you never know. Good luck :)

ya i agree with aquamarinee, cuz my scores are way low. ACT was high, but sat was below average and SAT II’s were flat in the toilet. so ya i agree.

First-pat yourself on the back. You have worked hard in your classes, and your GPA supports that. You have also shown initiative with the peer mentoring program. As I understand it, the performance/theater program looks both at academics/SAT scores-but also your involvement in performance. They strive to accept 50/50 boys/girls ratio. Overall, you have a strong chance, with your weakest point being your SAT scores-but you already know that. Remember, too, that the students attending NU have stronger SAT scores, and you will be in the classroom with those students. G’Luck! ~APOL-a mom

^^from what i’ve heard, yes, the theater major accepts about 50/50 and caps out at 100 students, but perf studs is a little different, very few (from what i’ve heard, less than 10-15 or so) declare it is an incoming major. that might be a good tipping point, especially if thats a big part of Why NU

thanks so much everyone, really calms my nerves. From what I am getting, its a 50/50 at this point because some of you have said yes and others no, but still thanks
