My chances?

I can't seem to figure out how to use my "stats profile" to do this simply, but here's me in a nutshell:

4.4 weighted GPA, predominantly AP classes
SAT 1260
Many leadership positions, including student body president
excellent recommendations
Jewish female from South Florida private school

Interested in Barnard (1st choice),or other medium size school near large city with active Jewish scene, considering University of Florida (Florida prepaid and Bright Futures will cover it) or University of Miami for lack of better options? Please offer suggestions and comments....

Brandeis University has a reputation for being “Jewish,” but I don’t think it’s true. In all cases, however, it’s still a terrific school that you might want to take a look at. By the way, what are you interested in? What is your UW GPA? Will you need FA?

Parents would LOVE FA but I won’t qualify for need-based. I’ll have to search for non-need based scholarships. I will look into Brandeis… a little nervous about those Mass. winters! Thanks for the reply…

oops… UW GPA is approx. 3.8. Interested in biology and possible pre-med.

I can’t really speak for Barnard, I don’t know much about them but I know about all the Florida schools… I think you’ll get into U of Miami, and I think it will be a close call at UF. UF is really too hard to get into for what it is…

I guess I am a little put off by UM’s reputation as a party school. What’s your take on it? And what do you know about Rollins?

Barnard and Rollins? Hmmm.

Barnard is an excellent option. If you decide to pass on UM, you might consider Tulane and Vanderbilt. UF should be a solid safety. Good luck!

I’m not so sure UF is a solid safety. I know kids with comparable SAT scores who were denied this past year. Maybe it’s a sign of economic times, but for a state university it is VERY hard to get an acceptance! Thanks, NewHope33!

Since faith is important: [Florida State University Jewish Student Union](http://www.fsu.edu/~sga/jsu/)

There’s a world of possible schools out there that you don’t seem to be considering. If Barnard is interesting how about: NYU, Tufts, Brandeis, BU, Penn (ED), UMD, Northwestern, these places all have active more-observant Jewish scene

Vanderbilt, U of Rochester, Emory, Smith all have active Jewish scene, in cities…

Could you raise your SAT scores if you take the test again? If you’ve only taken it once, def try again.
