Violin
All-County, All-State, All-Eastern, All-National Orchestra
Won some competitions and such. and went to some international festivals. School orchestra concertmistress.

Im also going to apply to the music department, to try to double major music with science.

But the thing is, my sat scores are verrry low....so should i take the Oct. SAT and apply later which lowers my chances for rolling admission, or should i apply in sept. but risk it with my loww sat score?

Loads of my friends applied to both CMU and UMich this year like you will. They all had averages ranging fom 88-92 and SAT scores ranging from 1300-1500 (I go to one of those specialized schools), and I have to say that I really think that you'll need to raise your SAT scores by around 40-70 in each section. You have a good average and some nice extracurriculars. But, both of the schools you're applying to have become increasingly hard to get into because of a larger amount of applicants (there are loads coming from the NY where kids have similar/better stats). I think that UMich will become especially harder to get into because of the large class sizes from the past two years. I'm not too sure about applying early, but I think the worst the can do to you is defer and maybe have you send in the new SAT scores (one of my friends got in that way).

edit: This is for LSA, not too sure about the auditioning process for UMich.

I suggest looking into University of Rochester which is a great school that has been on the rise for the past few years and has a great music program.

If you can raise your math score by 100 points (or each section by 50 points), you have a decent chance. But, as it stands, with your 1200 on the Math and CR sections, you will be about 120 points below the Michigan mean and you are out of state.

thanks for the comments. btw, which high school are u in jimmy? Stuy? hehe..so i guess i should just apply in sept. and if i get deferred then i could always send in my oct. score....Its there a chance i would be rejected? argh.....i shouldnt have any problem getting in for music, but its just the LSA im worried about.

Wow, All National orchestra, let alone All Eastern orchestra? Gotta give you props on that. No wonder your username is crzyviolin.

It's already been said, but work on getting your SAT scores up. I would apply later with higher scores than earlier with lower scores. That's just me, though.

Your EC's are a bit weak. You've gone far with gymnastics and violin, but you're not really involved in anything school related such as school clubs or the SGA. Since there's not much time to really get involved in clubs senior year, really expand on your two key interests and show your true dedication for them, and maybe that will get you by. I don't know how much Michigan looks at EC's, though, but yours are still impressive nonetheless.

Crazyviolin, you are extremely accomplished. A gymnist and musically gifted. Your GPA is solid. You just need to increase that SAT by a little and I say your chances are excellent.

I plan to major in physics. The problem is, if I do double major, the school of music and LSA are completely on the opposite ends of the campus. =(

I would not worry about that. Buses connect Central to North campus with a very frequent and regular school bus system that is entirely subsidized.
