my chances :)

so im a high school junior right now and i really am not sure where to start when it comes time to start applying next year. Any feed back would be helpful.
My stats:
rank: 82/698 (top 11.7)
GPA: 5.29 on 6.0 and 3.7 on 4.0
Always took honors classes when offered
SAT: unknown right now but predicting around 2200 based on practice

Debate team ( 1 year novice, 3 years Varsity + 2 year UIL district)
officer in animal shelter club- 4 years
officer in African Libraries Project Club - 2 years
Spanish National Honor Society- 2 years
and hopefully National Honor Society, we haven't gotten the chance of applying yet.
SAT 2s: bio M:770
APs: bio 5; world history 3 :/
Worked in a Gastroenterologist's office for about a year or so.
100 hours so far in hospital more pending
I am also planning on starting with a research group at MD anderson.

I am a hundred and fifty percent sure of going into medicine in the future and would like to go somewhere with a strong premed. program. I am not particular about going out of state or staying in; it really doesn't matter to me. Anything that you guys have to say about this?

Here’s a quick List as to what i have been thinking about lately:
-Texas A&M
-UT Austin
-Rice
-Emory
-Vanderbilt
-Dartmouth

I think the last four are somewhat of a reach because of my rank.
Also, how far does having a parent with an alumni status go at a school? thanks

Improve your rank
and those schools will be in low match
chance me

okay, anything else? or any other school suggestions that i might want to consider?

Chances are pretty good. Rice and Dartmouth seem a little high, but not unreachable with great essays, interviews, etc.
Chance me please!: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/781830-oxbridge-ivy-league-others-promise-ill-chance-back.html

oh and johns hopkins

Rice, Darthmouth, and JHU are high reaches since your GPA/rank is not very good. If you can get a 2200, your chances will go up since your ec’s are pretty good. GL!

How far do alumni stats go? because my dad has harvard and northwestern (business)
What about Emory and Vanderbilt?

Alumni parents help, but how much exactly depends on the school. I’ve heard Georgetown would give a SAT scorer of 2000 priority over a 2200er, with the right alumni connections.
