My Chances

Ok...I applied ED to William and Mary. My question...what are my chances?

Me - I'm a Caucasian female, NoVa area.

SAT:
730: Math
760: Critical Reading
740: Writing

ACT:
Combined Composite Score: 30
English Score: 34
Math: 32

Grades: 4.3 GPA (weighted)
8 AP classes counting senior year. I've gotten straight 5's on the ones I've taken. No regular classes anywhere.

Extra-Curricular:
National Honor Society
French Honor Society (I'm an officer)
Piano (6 years)
Choir (best in the school - also, I've done Districts all four years)
Transcribing documents for Blenheim House, on the National Historic Register.

Additional Info: I got one of my recommendations from William K. Barlow, who is the the delegate for the district in which William and Mary is located.

So...do I have a shot? Or am I just deluding myself?

dude, what are you talking about??? you have a 1490 SAT (a good 90 points above me), really strong transcript, an excellent rec, and good extra-currics; and w/ the higher acceptance rate for ED, you’re a slam-dunk, my friend!

I WISH. I really do. But people from my school rarely get in William and Mary - simply because NoVa, for some reason, is some kind of scholastic hole that produces way too many of what would be called “bright and aspiring students”. Only one got in from my HS last year.

lol, wow… I still think you have a great shot; yeah, I’m at a well-regarded public high school in Long Island; for the first time in 6 years, 3 people applied last year; only one got in and that person ended up going… this year, including me, 4 are applying (1 has very similar stats, one’s applying ED and has superior GPA/SAT, and I’m not sure about the other, lol)

but W & M is def one of my top choices…

Have you ever visited the place? I personally love the area…the best food. I like food. It’s also near a ton of family, though nothing immediate. My dad came from Smithfield, which is right across the James River.

Haha, you are beyond in. I come from Clarke which is North-western VA, and we have a good 5 kids a year GO to William and Mary out of a class around 175 students. I would be VERY surprised if you did not get in. Very.

Good luck, and I might be seeing you there next year. It is my favorite instate school. :)

Yeah…my graduating class is 500 kids - about 40 apply a year, and of those, maybe three get in. It’s serious buisness - seriously overblown, that is.

But thanks! I hope to see you come next year too!

My graduating class is only 78 students and I honestly don’t know how many are going to get in.

I believe I’m the only student who applied ED. There are several more applying RD though.

As to who gets in, if any…I hope it’s me… ;__;

Looks like we’re in similar boats, dude. Only my class is massive - I’m still the only one applying ED to William and Mary, though.

Hot damn. Where the hell in NoVA do you live? I live in the big FFX, and the acceptance rates there aren’t even that bleak. Goodness gracious.

Anyway, I think all of your stats look legit. ECs look fine. The numbers say you’re in.

your school gets 1 out of 40 accepted? that can’t be right.

I’m pretty sure you will be in.
