I just got a disappointing SAT score of 2050.
I want to go to cal, what are my chances?

gpa: 4.012
curricula: mostly APs
Schools: very very very competitive, im like in the top 15%
Extra curricular: artist, violinist, tennis.
I have great essays that would get me into any college so long as i had a rockin SAT score.
BUT I DON't!

can I get into Cal? 50% chance? 40? telll meeee pleaseeee

p.s. Im taking the december one, but on the off chance I don't do better.

You have a good chance. Seriously though, you never know what can happen. So instead of stressing about it, just relax because it’s your senior year. When I say this, I mean it. You will end up where you are meant to go (most likely). For me, I didn’t look into Berkeley until I got in. It just happens that I couldn’t be happier. I didn’t pick the school, the school picked me. So STOP worrying and have a great year! :)

I think you have a pretty good chance from the general stats provided, but yeah it’s pretty up in the air. My SAT scores were not as high as yours (almost broke 2000, but not quite), and I suppose my high school is not as competitive as yours as well. I think the thing that pushed me in were my essays and my **** load of diversified ECs, community service, and leadership positions.

Berkeley seems to prefer more involved and well-balanced students aside from high scores and such, compared to like UCLA and whatevers, although of course there are plenty of Berk students I know that didn’t do much in HS but had fairly high GPAs.

I agree with berkeleylove1. Don’t stress about it. Whatever college you end up in will be the best fit for you.

omg i really cant remember anymore what the fuss was about SAT/SATII scores. all of my scores sucked (aka way below what they recommend) and i didn’t have a billion APs or anything, just passion for a few of my ECs, volunteering, and good essays, and i got into engineering. berkeley isn’t going to judge you by numbers, especially compared to other UCs. be yourself and if you don’t get in, it wasn’t meant to be.

Dude, your fate is already sealed. move on with your life. even if you end up at UCSD, so what? if you end up with a 4.0 at UCSD, you will still be able to do great things in life.

Well, last year I was rejected from UCLA with a 4.09 GPA and 2080 SATs, and about the same SATs. I didn’t apply to Berkeley cause I live right next to it (East bay), and I felt if I got in, I would be obliged to go there. I figure UCLA/UC Berkeley are close to the same in difficulty to get into. I’d probably say based off that, it’s like a low reach. Maybe like a 25-30% chance of admission.
