Recently I posted a thread on my chances, but not in this particular forum. So here it goes.

During my ninth grade year, I encountered a personal tragedy. The year was terrible and I finished with a 2.4.
The following years, I got a 3.8, 4.0, and now a 4.6.. in 10, 11, and 12 respectively; my accumulative GPA is now 3.4.
I have taken the most demanding courses my school offers.. during 10th and 11th credit I doubled my courseload to compensate for ninth grade.

My SatI score is 1250 and I am taking it again in January.
SAT IIs
Writing 800
Literature 790
Math IIc 750

I have a year and a half work experience, working 30 hours every week, and 44 during the summer.

My ECs are great; I am involved with many school organizations.
- For community service, I am co-leader of a Relay for Life group devoted to raising money for cancer victims. I have also volunteered as a Special Olympics assistant numerous occassions, and have done the Junior Diabetes Foundation Walk for a Cure several times. These are just a few.

The recommendation letters and essay should be great as well.

I am applying to the College of Humanities and Social Sciences under Early Decision 2..

Will ninth grade hurt me at all? My personal statement will describe the time period and how I had to overcome difficulties that constantly weighted down on me.. only the first 2 nine weeks were poor.

Thanks for your responses!
