I know my EC's could use some work and my ACT, but think there is a chance?

If you go to a good suburban high school like Edina or EP that GPA will carry a lot of weight, if you go to a city school or a rural school you’re GPA is going to look like an inflation b/c of your low ACT score… I’d say you have a pretty good chance regardless.

First of all Edina all the way, ep sucks. Secondly, why do you want to go to Carleton. It is a sight for sore eyes, and also you could find much better LAC’s in Minnesota. St. Olaf, right a cross the river in the same city, has so much more of an upbeat vibe, and also probably the best science facilities around. “We come from st Olaf we sure are the real stuff, our team is the cream of the colleges great. We fight fast and furious, our team us endourious, tonight CARLETON college will sure meet it’s fate.” trust me, Carleton is the ugliest campus out there.

^LAWLZ. Silly Ole. Doesn’t even know his idioms. :)

(For what it’s worth, Carleton-Olaf relations are much better than this person makes them sound. We share our shuttle to Target and Cub Foods, and all of the kids I’ve met from St. Olaf have been very nice. It’s a friendly rivalry.)

To the OP–It’s like you said. Retake the ACT (the science section looks like a fluke to me) and try to make your application more cohesive than it seems right now. Have fun with the short essays; make it clear why you want to come to Carleton. Good luck!

Message to Jdubbs the ■■■■■:
Carleton is hundreds of times better academically than St. Olaf. Also, St. Olaf is a bunch of preppy rich kids while Carleton is geekier & more interesting. Oh, and I seem to be forgetting… who won the Carleton - St. Olaf football game last year?
BTW a sight for sore eyes is a compliment, not an insult…

ughh…please stop…you guys are making me think I’m reading University of Michigan forum which is full of ■■■■■■.

No put downs of St. Olaf. It is a great school which is very different from Carleton. The Ole’s that I knew are very nice and often invade the Carleton’s campus on Friday and Saturday night…usually because Carleton is a wet campus with co-ed dorms/floors…a huge difference from St. Olaf. From what I remember the rivalry is friendly.

Yes Carleton students and alums(like me) are geeking.

If you really want to check out the rivalry read old carletonians and newspapers from Northfield.
