I am an out of state student who fell in love with georgia. I would like to know what my chances at getting in are.
For gpa, I noticed they weight it differently than they do in Florida. But by how uga weighs it, its lower than for uf.

GPA (by how georgia weighs it) 3.69
SAT: first time 1210 or 1850 (math 620, cr 590, writing 640) but I recently took it again and I believe I did better. (Just assume this first score is the one I'm sending in.)

Extra curriculars
Eagle scout
treasurer of young republicans
florida boys state (very prestigious and have to be picked out of the whole school)
over 200 hours of volunteering at a Children's hospital
editor of school newspaper
secretary of interact service club
sea scout (basically started troop and always held leadership positions)
NHS

Additional information

Thanks you for helping me out here. I really appreciate it.

UGA has been increasingly hard to get into. I am a Georgia Resident, and I was asking myself the same question. Now i found out my chances are pretty good. But UGA’s average GPA was a 3.8 and SAT 1263. Your GPA is a little low, but it might suffice. Your SAT is not bad, but if you can raise it that would be good. How many APs/honors have you taken. Thats also very important to UGA.

I will have completed 7 ap classes by the end of my senior year. Almost all of my other classes are honors. I have a very rigorous schedule. Also my class rank is top 5%. do they care about that?

Here are the stats for the Class of 2014 from the UGA Admissions Blog:

Total number of applicants: 17,659
Total number of Accepted Freshmen: 9,965
Mid-50% range for GPA: 3.72-4.03
Mid-50% range for the SAT CR and M: 1220-1400
Mid-50% range for the SAT Writing: 580-680
Mid-50% range for the ACT: 27-31
Average number of AP/IB courses: over 5.5
While we show the average number of AP/IB courses, we look at the entire course selection, and the accepted students have challenged themselves with a wide range of Honors and Advanced courses, and a number of college courses taken through Joint Enrollment/Dual Enrollment programs.

You might want to also consider taking the ACT. Some students do much better on one test over the other.

You should also check out the Admissions Blog archive. There is a wealth of information there.

From the parental standpoint, are your parents prepared to pay out of state tuition? UGA offers very few out of state tuition waivers and those go to applicants with very high stats.
