You look very strong, and if it was up to me I’d let you in, but here’s the problem. Because of affirmative action, Asians are disadvantaged when it comes to applying to top tier schools. So even though you are very qualified, you sort of have the “traditional” Asian ecs, not entirely, but you really want to make sure you stand out. Make sure to write excellent essays, and you’ll do great!

Thanks! I had a feeling I would get the info from you. I didn’t think it had anything to do with the nationwide statistics; it’s just that I feel as I’ve seen it many times. Maybe I just take notice when I see 2340 because that was what I happened to get.

Wow, I didn’t even catch that and that was at the top of the thread.

But, thank you for your ever-present help, silverturtle!

I can’t forget to chance the OP, it’d be rude to just make that one observation above. Your numbers look very competitive, and you seem to be dedicated to most of your ECs. Whether or not you get in, I have a hard time critiquing any aspect of your application listed in this thread.

Very, very good chance. I actually know a few Canadians with similar stats, although different instruments/sports, who were accepted early to Yale SCEA this year.

PS: is that soloing with symphony orchestra, or playing within it?

haha i didnt know that my sat score was so popular
and as for above, i play in a symphony orchestra not solo :S
thats great that i have such positive feedback though! makes me feel a lot better bout my self
