My chances

I want to apply to either recorded music at tisch or music buisness at steinhardt. I'm fairly confident in my music abilities and I think that I would get in based on them but I'm really concerned about the academic aspect of it. Be honest.. what do you think my chances are to get in. I'm from Canada so I'm not sure what my GPA is. My grades were alright in grades 9, 10 and 11 (my averages were around 80.. some low 70s but some 90s). So far I've done a couple grade 12 courses and did well on them. If I did really really well on my grade 12 courses and did really well on my SATs would I have a shot? I know it's a stretch but if I do extremely well this year would I still have a shot or did my grade 9, 10 and 11 marks ruin my chances? I think I can do well, I just never tried in school, which was dumb and now I'm kinda freaking out. Anyways any information would be really helpful! Thanks so much!

It’s hard to gauge your chances because you don’t really give specific GPA’s. If your GPA is around an 80%, which I’m assuming is a B or in US it would be considered a 3.0, you would need quite excellent SAT scores to balance that out. For NYU, the “average” SAT and GPA is around 1950 and 3.7. Don’t feel discouraged, because if you do dazzling on your SAT’s you have a chance, although it’ll be tough.
