is bus-a100 easy and how’s it like?

That fall schedule is much more difficult that the one you had. W131 will be much more difficult than HISP S100. It is a choice you need to make; do the easiest schedule possible to get into Kelley, or take harder classes to not only get into Kelley, but to also start meeting more graduation/Icore requirements. Prioritize your goals. The chance of getting less than a B in W131 will be much greater than getting less than a B in HISP S100 if you already have three years of Spanish.

BUS A100 is very difficult (read the threads on this board), but everybody who applies to Kelley seems to take it. You need A100 before you can take A201 and A202.

My goal: get into kelley.
well i’m taking eng 131 no matter so why not have it with hispc 100 rather than hispc 100 is easier than 105. So basically i’m just trying to distribute the work load so not 1 semester is harder than the other.

bus-a100 is accounting right? i’ve taken that so i have some basic knowledge of it. I’ll worry about a100 later during soph year so i’m just going to stick with the easy courses

The semester that you take A100 will the harder semester. Also, you could take A100 in the six-weeks summer session after freshman year. If you take A100 sophomore year, you won’t be able to take Icore in fall of junior year, unless you take A202 in the summer before that.

So you want to take 16 credits in Fall? That is too many credits, as you do not need that many to meet minimum requirements to get into Kelley. You will be adding risk.

Fall
bus-x 100 (3 cr.)
CSCI-A 110 (3 cr.) (should i just drop csci? cause i was told it helps with k201)
HISP-S 100 (4 cr.)
MATH-M 119 (3 cr.)
ENG-131 (3 cr.) (taking it with hispc 100 because it’s easier and i’m distributing the work load. or would u recommend 2nd semester instead)

Spring
HISP S105 (4 cr.)
BUS K201 (3 cr.)
Sociology (3 cr.)
Some easy class that meets gen ed. (3 cr.)

Total - 29

If I was taking Accounting, English and Econ at my community college over the summer before coming to Kelly, would those count towards the 27 credits I needed to apply to Kelly?

don’t you need Econ-E201 also?

westernbohemian, you need to check the Credit Transfer Service for your community college and the exact courses you are taking to see if they will transfer to IU and count toward your 26 credits needed to apply to Kelley. They will be listed on this website if IU accepts them.

Regular econ probably won’t do you any good; you probably need to take either microeconomics or macroeconomics.

English should probably be an English Compositition class that will substitute for ENG W131 at IU.

[Credit Transfer Service: Admissions: Indiana University](http://cts.admissions.indiana.edu/)

The Accounting counts for Bus 201 A
English for ENG W 131
Econ counts for ECON E 202
Math counts for Math UN 100

But could I take say 15 credits at my first term at IU, and then use those credits above (at 3 credits each) to count towards my “27 hours of coursework”? that way i can apply to kelley at the end of the first semester instead of the second?

According to Kelley’s admissions page, you can apply during the Fall semester, and “The application for Spring 2012 admission is available September 1, 2011, at 12:00 am to November 4, 2011, at 11:59 pm. Applicants will be notified of their status in early January 2012.”

[Future IU Freshmen: Admissions: Undergraduate Program: Kelley School of Business: Indiana University Bloomington](<a href=“Undergraduate | Bachelor's Degree in Business | Indiana Kelley”>Undergraduate | Bachelor's Degree in Business | Indiana Kelley)

You only need 26 credits to apply.

I would take in the Fall [assuming you get three credits for the math class]:

14 credits
BUS K201 Computer in Business [3 credits] – fairly difficult class
BUS X100 [3 credits]; should be an easy B
BUS X104 [3 credits] should be an easy B
MATH M118 or M119 [3 credits]-- hard class
BUS A100 1 credit
HPER-A 483 PRINCIPALS OF SPORTS OFFICIATING Basketball – an easy and fun class if you like basketball; most everyone gets an A; meets second eight weeks only.

This will give you exactly 26 credits.

Whatever you do, don’t take finite and calculus the same semester. You only need one of these classes to get into Kelley. I recommend M119. Do not take any calculus class higher than M119, no matter how high you test in math. It is an unnecessary risk to take a calculus class higher than M119.

OFFICIAL FALL SCHEDULE (MAY BE TENTATIVE THO)

MATH-M 119 (for kelley
HPER-117 (for the hell of it bowling)
HISP-S 105 (hopefully easy credit and language requirement)
BUS-K 201 (for kelley)

definitely taking bus-x 100 next semester and knocking out several gen ed classes next semester.

bthomp what do you think and can you give me insight on the classes including the details and toughness

That is only 11 credit hours. Shouldn’t you be taking at least 12 to be a full-time student?

You need 26 credits to apply to Kelley, so maybe you could take 13 credits each semester.

You could drop the bowling class and pick up a three-credit class (X100 or a gen ed/27 credit hour core would be best) to give you 13 credits this semester. A schedule like that would be about as easy as you can get if you are trying to get into Kelley.

i forgot to mention eng 131

You have

HISP-S 105 (hopefully easy credit and language requirement)

I don’t know which language requirement you are referring to. Kelley does not have a language requirement, but you can fulfill the international dimension with six credits at the two hundred level, but HISP S105 is not two hundred level.

I might take CSCI A110 for easy N&M credit and to prepare for K201, then take K201 spring semester. You can’t take them both the same semester.

i talked to lady and she told me to just jump right into k201 because she thought cpsc doesn’t help with 201.

the gen ed classes requires like foreign language or culture classes but ive taken spanish so it should help me with it. therefore easier A or B at least.

My D is a direct admit and going to orientation next week. We are trying to put together a tentative schedule before meeting with an advisor. She scored high enough so will not have to take W131. What do you think about taking Bus X104, Math 118 , Bus A100, Z202? we know she will have to take another course but not sure at this point. Any suggestions?

Sorry looking at Mus Z201 - History of Rock and Roll.

^^^DC, my son took nearly the same schedule, except he took the honors version of X104. Does your D know if she is going to go the field specialization route or the distribution route for her gen ed requirements? My S did field specialization and took a Spanish class (S275), but if she’s doing the distribution route she might want to take the computer class that preps you for K201/204 that bthomp has been suggesting-CSCI A110 for easy N&M credit .
