my college counselor suggested...

that I use my UC personal statement #1 for my common app essay. would that be a good/bad idea? my essay is about 560 words, so I think the length should be good.

in similarity, the closest topic on the common app would be "Indicate a person who has had a significant influence on you, and describe that influence." but in the UC essay I go beyond this and talk about "how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations" as the UC essay asks. would that be ok for the this essay topic on the common app?

hey, sorry need to ask you this question, what is UC?

well.. imo, there's a tendency to include our environment we live in and its impact on us..

I don't really quite get your comparison of two essay prompts. But they sound fine. very common topic. But do try to make your essay very unique .. like for example.. 'your world', would u just write about your physical world fullstop?

Imo, submit an essay so that it responds precisely to the Common App prompt you wish to use.

You could consider using the "topic of choice" prompt for the Common App.
