even though you are black your gpa, sat and act scores are not very competitive for most of these schools
I would consider taking the tests again
good luck

speak with your guidance counselor, he might have to recommend a few safe schools… hey, no harm in applying to these schools if you really like them, but at the end of the day you need a few sure options

My matches/safeties are syracuse and university of Utah! My guidance counselor actually recommended that I apply to more high up schools due to my essays, LORs, and extra curricular activities @nyhopeful77

then you should really play up on the fact that you have two jobs and are seriously providing for your family… that ultimately means less time for school, which could make up slightly for the gpa… i think you’ll get in for at least some of these schools

Ok thank you for the advice! @nyhopeful77

you must run the NPC at EACH college. If tyour EFC is very low, you should apply to 100% need schools. You don’t have enough match schools - they’re all reaches.
I would recommend you apply to Gettysburg (meets 100% need) and Muhlenberg in PA, since you listed a lot of PA schools, as well as to St Olaf (meets 100% need). All three would be match schools (high match for Gettysburg and St Olaf, match for Muhlenberg).
Read the Fiske Guide, Insider’s Guide to the Colleges, Princeton Review’s Best Colleges. I can’ t imagine you’d be interested in Syracuse and Vassar, for example.

Syracuse=> does not meet need so: financial reach
Tulane=> reach
Fordham=> reach
Lehigh=> high reach
Villanova=> financial reach
Lafayette=> reach but would meet need
Bucknell=> same thing
Vassar=> same thing
UofR=> reach, not sure it’d meet need
UPenn (ED)=> unlikely = try to use your ED card elsewhere, perhaps Vassar or Bucknell (depending on the “fit” you’re looking for). To give you an idea, 96% admitted students had a better GPA than you do, and your test scores would be in the bottom 20%. Most students in that range are athletes or “developmentals” (children from foreign prime ministers or billionaires); the fact you’re from Utah and have one national award (Biomed debate) will help (will probably boost you to the equivalent of bottom 25%) but it’s still unlikely. You can hope that most Utah applicants don’t have your credentials.
Emory= reach
Georgetown= reach
University of Utah= at the very least, apply to the Honors College
Why not apply to Howard? It’s a top school in DC and you’d get a near full-ride if you apply within the next week or so.

You have your reaches. You need to find another safety and 3-5 more matches.
