My Cornell Interviewr Just Emailed Me...

<p>Hello Cornellians!</p>

<p>My interviewer just happened to email me last night stating that he apologizes for delaying my interview (b/c he was out of country and still is till Feb. 5th) and he will reschedule it with me after Feb. 5th. My questions are as follow:</p>

<p>1) Should I contact him by email or should I call him? And should I do it after Feb. 5th, and just contact him now just to say that it is OK or what not?</p>

<p>2) I am an international and a permanent resident alien living in the USA and my interviewer happens to be from my native country, so should I use my native language when communicating to him or would it be abnormal if I do that? If it would not be nice/normal to use my native language, could I just say hello to him according to my native culture?</p>

<p>3) Lastly, any interview tips specifically for Cornell interviews b/c I LOVE CORNELL!</p>

<p>And Just a few stats that you may want to know before answering my questions (specifically number 3):</p>

<p>Applying to Cornell Engineering
Majoring in "Electrical and Computer Engineering"</p>

<p>THANKS, any help would greatly be appreciated!</p>

<p>Rule of thumb: respond in the same way the interviewer has asked something.
Since he/she emailed you, you should email them back in case calling during some time is inconvenient for them
I'd say speak English since you will be going to school in the states and only when the interviewer asks or starts speaking your native tongue should you do so.
Interview tips: never answer anything with just yes or no, try to get the interviewer involved by asking them their opinions, questions, etc.--you want it to be like a conversation rather than a question and answer period
And lastly, don't sweat it. the interviewer is asking you about you and it can only help unless you've got some real issues which i'm sure you don't
Good luck!</p>

<p>my inteviewer e-mailed me as well, but I'm just worried that would it be more difficult to set up the time and place for an interview if I reply with an e-mail? And would it come off as more informal/shy? Or are these usually not problems?</p>

<p>Can anyone answer my other questions?</p>
