My cousin will be applying to UCLA as TRANSFER

I am just wondering how difficult it is (or how much easier it is as compared to freshman admission). My cousin said she had a really good chance (her GPA is like 3.65 or 3.7 at WestLA College). She said that GPA "fulfills the requirement". I wasn't convinced and told her there might be many people with such GPA or above also. What else does UCLA look at besides community college GPA. She will be applying for business econ program if I am not mistaken (unless there's another major closer to accounting, which would be her major at Cal State LA if she doesn't get in).

Every UC has its own set of stats - here's the link for UCLA:

Good Luck to your cousin!

Thanks. I am a bit suprised how much easier to get in than regular freshman admission. Looks like my cousin has a great chance.

Also look at this page:

<a href="http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/Adm_tr/tradms.htm%5B/url%5D">http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/Adm_tr/tradms.htm</a></p>

It states:

"Competition for transfer openings has increased in recent years. Thus, strong academic preparation and performance are primary elements in our admission decisions. The average GPA of transfer applicants who are admitted to UCLA is 3.50, and most students who are admitted have completed most or all of the preparatory coursework for their majors."

Pay special attention to that word "average" - some depts expect higher GPAs and also have their own set of requirements for transfers.

Also - pay attention to the ASSIT website as well as the CSU Mentor site:
Fulfill ALL the requirements!!

<a href="https://secure.csumentor.edu/%5B/url%5D">https://secure.csumentor.edu/</a></p>

Be careful to take only classes that will transfer and/or are applicable to your major...don't waste your time on classes that don't transfer.

--Used to be that all you had to do was attend a CC & get above a 3.0; there is entirely too much competition these days...

Sam Lee,

She's a slight reach/match depending on whether she completed an honors program.

The average GPA of pre-biz econ admits was 3.81 in 2006.

UCLAri, were u a transfer student? (just wondering since i have seen you around before)

The difficulty of transfer admission depends a great deal on the major one is applying to. Impacted majors, including biz-econ, are more difficult. However, I'd still say it's much easier than applying as a freshman, if only because you're competing with far fewer people for a spot.

And I agree with Ari about the slight reach/match. I know people who have gotten into biz-econ as transfers with less, but they were in honors. Regardless, she still has a pretty good shot.

allie! i know you were a transfer student! can someone on here give me my chances haha!

chances for what?

the school lol, its ok, you dont have to...

lol, well, yeah. i meant major, stats, etc.

hmm...i cant pm you? lol 3.93 Sociology major, um prereqs completed by spring. Alright essay... i made a few typos and grammar mistakes accidently  (i called them and this girl was like "oh it shouldnt count against you that badly") i dont know if thats true. Also, CCC student.

oh and i also emailed them about it, so hopefully they can correct it lol...

not a tap student...

mojojojo69,

UCLA: Match/safe match

really? thanks! i am like really scared cuz for some reason i have started to become obsessed with going to ucla...and the typos/grammar mistakes are haunting me!

also are ECs important? cuz i just listed stuff like deans list and HS stuff.

You'll be fine. Don't hyperventilate.
