I was wondering what my chances would be to get into schools like Windsor,
Deerfield,
Milton,
Gorton,
Phillips Andover Acadamy,
Blair Acadamy, Taft
, Commonwealth
, Hotchkiss, C
hoat, and
Princeton Day School.

They are not in any sort of order

Languages, English, Korean, 5 years of Spanish, and 1 year of Japanese.

Im am in 9th grade and applying for 10th.

I have not gotton my ssat scores back yet.

sports = Cross Country, Track, Volleyball, and i am going to do golf in the spring.

I have done many clubs etc.

I have seen the help the members of CC give to many students and it really is great to have something like CC.

Jonathan- yes i am a US citizen and i live the US.
Chapel Band, Compassion, Student Government but i do not know if that counts for a club, and Flute choir.

Periwinkle- All the schools I looked at offered day schools even though they are a boarding school. Will it make much difference if i go to an actualy day schools than one that offers both?

I believe that the SSAT scores will really tell us your chances to the best of our abilities.
Wait it out, buddy! You've still got a few weeks until we can give you our opinions.
Keeping this in mind, it still will be VERY difficult because 5/11 of your schools are RIDICULOUSLY selective. Its a bit of a blind guess because there are SO many qualified applicants.

Park8 -- Usually people apply to day schools because they live in the area. What is confusing me is that you are considering Princeton Day (in Princeton, NJ) and Commonwealth in Boston. I think Windsor is close to Boston.

While I cannot venture a guess on chances (especially without grades), if you have questions on Blair, please let me know. They have cross country (strong team), track and golf. I don't think they have volleyball as a team sport, but they may offer it as a recreational sport.

Which ones? Let me enlighten you.
Choate
Phillips Academy
Hotchkiss
Taft
Deerfield
Groton*
Milton*
^ All of those are down right CHALLENGING to get accepted into.
Do your homework, young man =] Your playing with the big boys now.

I've done my homework and it is very obvious that all of them are hard and i read all about their teams, sports, education, etc I was just wondering which ones are tough to get into in your opnion.

Also i am a girl considering Windsor is an all girls school. That would be odd i was a young man.

Thank you for your honesty though. =)

Burb Parent

Thank you so much. My family and I actually willing to move to the one I accepted to and the one that fits me the most. I am fully commited.

Blair offers an attractive campus with challenging academics, strong college advising, time for fun, quality teachers, and much more. I'm estimating that last year's admissions rate was 45-50%, so it has the highest admissions rate of the schools on your list. This rate is a guess on my part -- it was described last year in a letter as "below 50%." Did you visit? Visits often give a sense of fit. Good luck!

You must specify in the application whether you are applying as a day or a boarding student. I have heard that it is generally harder to get into a boarding school as a day student. Many of the schools on your list are in the midst of affluent towns, filled with parents who want their children to attend as day students.

All of the schools on your list have competitive admissions. You are entering a much more competitive pool by applying as a day student. In addition, at a coed school, only half the seats available will be filled by girls. The other half will be filled by boys. In effect, then, coed schools are much harder to get into than single-sex schools.

If you are willing to apply to single-sex schools, I'd urge you to investigate Emma Willard, Miss Porter's, and Ethel Walker. Also, it's Winsor (no "d").

Sorry, I'm new to this so im still trying to figure things out. =]

My teachers told me they wrote really good recs for me and I trust that they did.

All through now I have been on high honor roll and honor roll with distinction.

My interviewer was very nice and made very promising comments like "Well, we'll be glad to have you!" etc. Then I heard that interviewers do not say negative comments very much.

I have also done mission trips and volunteer work.

How is St. Paul? I heard that was a tough school to get into too.

More information like this is very helpful. And interviewers if they don't like you will just not say anything, so the fact they said something was good.

I am really loving St. Paul's, its a great school.
