My CURRENT Shot at U Chicago, Cornell, UCSD, UT Southwestern

Sorry I had to post my stat's and all this yet again but I always forget important stuff or a college to ask about. I realize it's early but I'm just wondering what my chances at these colleges are so far.

Freshman GPA: 3.5 unweighted, that school didn't weight but by my new schools weighting it would have been like a 3.8 because due to budget cuts I was only able to take one honors course.

Sophomore GPA: 3.81 unweighted 4.4 weighted
PreAP's this year (Current Grade f for final): Algebra 2 PAP (A+), English 2 PAP (A+), World Geography PAP(A), Chemistry PAP(A or A+ not sure)
AP classes taken this year: AP Psychology (next 9 weeks)
Anticipated AP's: AP Spanish 4, AP Spanish 5, AP English 3, AP English 4, AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Music Theory 2, AP US History, AP European History, AP Physics (possibly)

Probably some college courses in math or science if I can.

Practice SAT average: 1510 (760 Verbal, 750 Math)

Extracurriculars: Habitat for Humanity, Spanish Club, piano 11 years(blues, jazz, classical), guitar 5 years(some classical some rock).

Community Service: 40 hours, Christian Community Action Center, beach cleanups with surf club in California. I plan to do a lot more.

Reccomendations: Very Strong: My counselor likes me, any teacher I have pretty much, Harvard professor grandfather, John Hopkins PhD family friend that knows me very well, guitar teacher. I know some of those won't be that important.

Don't really care about the size of the college or rural/urban. I want an attractive campus, smart people not a bunch of fraternity jocks. Price isn't a factor.

its early but,
u chi match
cornell reach
Southwestern match
UT austin match
UCSD match

what country did you do habitat for humanity for?

I say you're a shoe-in for UT: Austin & Southwestern, especially if you're in-state.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I wasn't worried about getting into those that much. My family owns a beach house in California though so I can be in state there too.

Texasmathwhiz, you have so many options. No school is beyong your reach really. What do you want to major in?

Oh, see I forgot a detail again. Premedicine, which I here is not really a major most places but basically I want to be a heart surgeon. So anything like that, Biology, Premed, Microbiology. Something scientific that will get me into med school. My main interests are with Bio and Chemistry, not really physics.

Whizzer- you just won't quit, will you! UT Southwestern is a medical school, not an undergraduate school. You have a ways to go. Folks, check out this kids thread on the parent's board. He is a Sophomore with a 168 PSAT.

lol I was about to say that

But any of the UT's can feed into that school.

Texaswhiz, my uncle is a heart surgeon in Texas (funny place for a Lebanese doctor to live if you ask me) and did quite well. He teaches and practices at Baylor (Houston). His name is Michael DeBakyy. Amazing guy. He practiced surgery until the age of 91! LOL

At any rate, I recommend many schools. Here is a short list! LOL It is up to you to narrown it down to 10-12 schools.

Amherst College
Bowdoin College
Brown University
Carleton College
Columbia University

Michael DeBakyy, I heard about that guy. Some medical magnate (sp?) school is named after him. I wish I could go to a medical magnate.

Do you really think I could get into all those schools? I mean, Harvard, Yale, MIT. I thought those we're out of the question because of my freshman 3.5.

you didnt do "bad" your fresman yr. but if u would have done as well as ure soph yr ide say your a lock for most but as of now
TCU Safty
SMU match
UT austin: depends on class rank
U CHi: Match-reach
Cornell: Reach
Southwestern:Match

If you can get a 1400-1500 i would say u might have a chance a cornell but that is a real competitive school

As for Harvard Yale MIT. U will need a crazy sat mid 1500'

Well what do you think my SAT will be if I got a 1510 on that practice one, and that was the old one.

on the new one 2150 out of 2400

Really, because if I got 750 Math 760 Verbal that would mean you're saying I'd get 600 writing, which I doubt.

whats the best college research site u know ie princetonreview?

Collegeboard is pretty good. Otherwise if you have an idea of exactly what college then just go to their website.
