My daughter hates boarding school!

That's great, happy for you and D! This needed to get bumped this time of year.

Dropped D off at school a few days ago. In the week(s) before, she had decided that she really is more of a public school kid (whatever that is). Most of her friends have started 9th grade in one of the area public schools. That's where she pictured herself - last week. So, it was with considerable mixed feelings that she finally brought herself to pack some clothing, LOTS of photos of friends and family, etc., and get into the car for the fateful drive to her new school.

Anyway, while it's still very early days, her first impressions/experiences seem very positive (maybe it helps that her expectations were so low...). We are still preparing ourselves for the (almost) inevitable homesickness, though it does seem that she may have processed many of her fears and doubts before she even left home.

It's very heartening to hear the story of jennycraig's daughter's independence and success in embracing new adventures.

good luck to your daughter, snowedin!

My daughter was a mess during our goodbye and wanted to come back home. Less than week later, she was thrilled to be at her boarding school. Once they make friends and get busy with classes, I think they all end up having a great time. Now to just figure out how to get myself to not watch the clock, waiting for the next phone call from her..

Okay, D'yre Maker...I'm reading older posts to get all the information I can as we go through this process and YOUR POSTS keep coming up as GOOD STUFF!

THANKS!

This thread was such a comfort…take a read.
