MIT is her 1st choice .WHAT ARE HER REALISTIC CHANCES FOR MIT, CALTECH, ETC? IS SHE COMPETITIVE FOR BROWN 8 YEAR (BA,MD)?

Read the “Guide to Chancing” thread above, posted under “Featured Discussions.” That thread was created by MIT students and alums.

I don’t think she is competitive for Brown BA/MD, her test scores seem low for them and I think they care about them.

Course load and GPA are impressive, test scores toward the low end for their statistics. Has she tried the ACT?

You have not said anything about her that tells me what is special about her, what she is passionate about. What makes her tick and what will she add to MIT class of 2014.

I think chances are better for MIT than Caltech. Caltech has said they like their kids pointy, that parents can tell their kids are different. She is coming across as more well rounded with test scores higher in CR than in M but that may be because I am only seeing a few things on her.

She is not very competitive for the Brown program you referred to. Her scores would have to be quite a bit higher.

If you daughter wants to be premed, I would advise against Caltech. Her scores –
SAT M 700, MATH 2 750, PHYSICS 730 and physics B 4 – indicate that she doesn’t find math and physics at the high school level slam dunk easy. It would be a shame if the Caltech core curriculum, which is heavy on hard math and physics brought down her GPA and hurt her chances for med school.

You can find several threads about this over on the Caltech forum.

Her chances at MIT? Read the “Guide to Chancing” thread, like CalAlum said.
