My Daughter was accepted to Ross!!!!!

Just to let everyone know that some decisions have been sent out for Ross Preferred Admission. She has already been accepted Wharton ED, so she will not be accepting this admission offer. We were told decisions were going to be made in March, but obviously that was not true.

Are you going to notify Michigan that she will be at Wharton? I applied to Ross as well, so I wouldn't want to see the spot taken by someone who has committed elsewhere.

Also, would you mind posting what kind of stats your daughter had? I'd really like to have some kind of idea as to what they were looking for. Obviously if she was accepted at Wharton ED they should be fantastic.

Michigan was already notified of her ED acceptance- the Ross acceptance came in the mail subsequent to that notification.

My D is valedictorian (GPA 104/100), Student Body President, President of NHS, President of Habitat for Humanity, Chair. of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Supreme Court Justice (Y & G) and other ECs. She also has a great unique business internship. Every section of her SAT I/IIs was above 700, and she had great recs, essays, and awards. Her app was strong with no weak areas. Wharton and Ross obviously felt she was a great well-rounded candidate. Ross also offered her scholarship money, and she did not ask for any financial aid.

Wow. I thought they didnt send out Ross decisions until March or April. Man, I want to get into Ross. crosses fingers

Congrats to your daughter!!!

wow, did she really get above 700 on all sat1/sat2? thats quite an unbelievable feat.

bows down to holy daughter

:-/

lol. Burn by jeffl. Perhaps that was deserved. "No weak areas"....right, and I'm the sultan of Brunei.

I'm sorry if I offended anyone with my D's stats. We were just shocked by this acceptance since she had already withdrew her app., and decisions were supposed to be made in March. Anyway, good luck to everyone!

Does everyone in her graduating class despise her? She sounds like a major overachiever.

does she sleep? has she seen sunlight in the past 4 years?

Maybe you guys never visit the Harvard or MIT boards, but savvymom's daughter isn't a total freak. There are tons of CCers with better/more EC's and certainly tons with higher test scores. We aren't calling them the freaks though. I say you cut her some slack.

savvymom, congratulations.

I'm impressed and congratulations. but come on...

Since when is someone who is the Student Body President as well as NHS President a loser? You have to be elected to those positions, you know.

This applicant had good ECs, unlike the typical "Math Club" "Science Olympiad" "Member of NHS" applicant.

and at least 700 on all sat I/IIs is impressive, but not that uncommon

congratulations to savvymom's daughter!

How do you find about Ross.......do they mail you separately or....email..?
When do you find out/do they tell you if you get rejected and if so...when?

How many do they take/how many apply?

I have been monitoring this thread for over 24 hours, hoping I would not have to close it down because there is some valuable information posted here. I must say I was disapointed with some of your initial responses...not at all typical of our usual welcoming selves. Savvymom did us a service. We have all wondered for some time when Ross would start responding to applicants. Now we know thanks to her. Like all parents, she is proud of her child. There is no need to be facetious or worse, malitious. Most of you who are going to be admitted into Ross will have her daughter's stats and guess what? Your parents will be just as openly proud as her.

Soap box begone.

Congratualtions to your dauther are in order Savvymom. Wharton is an awesome program...almost as awesome as Ross! hehe (I couldn't resist).

im new here @ UMich board and i hav a question
so.. apparently Ross school of B is offerred to undergrad students...
when does Ross school of B notify students the decision?? (i thought UMich notified their applicants as soon as they're done w/ reviewing their applications -- rolling)

FxImpeccable, Ross is accepting high school graduates into their undergraduate program for the first time this year, so we know very little about the process. Traditionally, Ross students had to first get admitted into one of Michigan's undergraduate colleges (typically LSA or Engineering), complete two years and then, apply to be considered for the undergraduate Business program, which was a 2 year program. In the first two years, students would have to take several required classes like intro to Micro and Macro economics, Calculus and English writing. Admission into the Business program was not easy, with only 50% of the Michigan applicants gaining admission. Successful applicants typically managed to maintain at least a 3.3 GPA their Freshman and Sophomore years at the University. On average, they maintained a 3.6 GPA, which at Michigan is a pretty impressive achievement.

Just last year, Ross became a three-year program and decided to consider applicants fresh out of high school. So this year, for the first time in its history, Ross will accepted a small group of high school applicants. The first step is to be admitted into the college of LSA. Once in, the files of those applicants who have requested to be considered for Business studies will be sent to Ross for consideration.

i c
so basically, u can get accepted to the college but not to Ross (biz program)

on average,
how long does it normally take for UMich to notify ure decision
(hypothetically, lets say u applied in mid september, when would u receive ure decision)??
