I think the benefits Georgetown will confer upon you and vice-a-versa far outweigh the financial burden. Way to go! I hope to hear of your continued adventures, charm and success in D.C. That you decided to forsake the West Coast for a while will do some good in the long run.

CONGRATULATIONS on GEORGETOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My brother is a Georgetown grad, and he LOVED it there! How exciting! Have a wonderful four years!!

Great Decision!!!! You are going to love Georgetown--Hoya Saxa--and unbelievable times in DC!!!!!!! Our nephew is so happy he is there, just loves it. Good luck!!!!

Calidan (and Tlaktan, too): Congrats!! G'town is awesome...don't forget you have CC family here...we live a scant 6 miles from G'town...don't be strangers!

Thrilled for you calidan!! I know Cal had the financial edge but I was silently hoping for the HOYAs! Wonderful place, wonderful city. Will be a great experience! The life enrichment will make it worthwhile for you.

PS While you're there, could you bring their basketball team back into the March Madness calibre? ;)

Calidan, though I was a strong advocate for Cal, I do have to admit that there was one important "test" I didn't mention that would always go into any decision I would make for myself: "Will I regret not taking this opportunity in 10 years?"

That is, if you found yourself wondering whether a little part of you might always regret not having taken the leap to Georgetown, DC, & the East coast -- and always wonder what might have been -- then that's a powerful argument.

I still have my doubts as to whether it is "worth" the money in a strictly economic sense, but some things can't be measured in dollars - that is particularly true of life experiences. That is, G-town may leave you in greater debt -- and it may not result in a better job or greater income down the line -- but you will always have the experience of attending school there and living in DC, and who knows where that will lead.

So good luck -- "follow your heart" is always the best advice. Sometimes it just takes a little more time to figure out where that is.
