My Dilemma

Alright, between my freshman and sophomore years in high school, I took Pre-Calculus Enriched in the summer so I could take Calculus AB during the regular school year. However, I unfortuantely ended up getting a B+ in it(long story).

After a long talk with my counselor, she said that it would be a good idea to take it Pass/Fail; meaning that all it would say on my transcript is Pass. Now I know it is usually better to take a B+ in a class than take it Pass/Fail; since a Pass in a course can range anywhere from an A to a D. However, I figured that it was just a summer class and that therefore future universities that I apply to won't look into it so much. Besides, I didn't want that grade to hurt my cumulative GPA. So, my question is whether I should take the class Pass/Fail or just take the B+ in it(which will appear as a B on my transcript because my school doesn't figure in +'s and -'s)???

Any thoughts, advice, and feedback regarding my dilemma is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time!!!

A B on your transcript certainly won't kill your chances at college.

I know, it's not like thats the problem, but anyway I doubt that someone with a 4.0 wouldn't be a little upset if they ruined it in a summer class. Now I got other B's this year but still...I guess i am just wondering if colleges care about summer grades and whether they use it in their GPA recalculation. I'm particularly concerned about Ivies.

Oooh .. Ivies. If you'll still keep your 4.0 if you put pass/fail on your transcript then certainly do that. If you put that you got a B, and it counts into your GPA..then don't do that.

Well, if your transcript specifies that it is a summer class that you took voluntarily (not because you failed it during the year), I'm sure any reasonable person would understand. After all, it is extra school that you went to by your own choice, while everyone else was relaxing or pursuing other interests.
