<p>Discipline. If you don't like him eating cat food, stop leaving cat food where he can get it and correct him if you catch him eating it.</p>

<p>I don't mean to be presumptuous, but it sounds like you have fallen into the trap of letting your small dog get away with murder because he's small. Small dogs need just as much discipline as large dogs. Don't let him rule the house! Set rules and stick to them. Do you have a fenced yard and that's where he caught the mouse?</p>
<p>Actually, the fact that he's a Yorkie (Yorkshire Terrier) explains at least part of his behavior. All terriers were originally bred to kill vermin in and around farms, estates, etc. Hence the dead mouse bit. Simply put, he's following his instincts.</p>
<p>gbesq - you're absolutely right. A lot of people complain about things their dog do when it's really just what the breed was developed for.</p>
