UVA is, for a multitude of reasons, the school of my dreams. However, i just got my junior year grades and i got a C+ in regular physics (due to failing the final exam- never got a c+ in any of the quarters) I know I have just ruined my chances. Please be honest with me- does anyone know of anyone who has gotten into UVA with a C+ grade junior year? I know junior year grades are of utmost importance and I'm afraid that I have just ruined my shot at the school of my dreams.

No SAT score yet..ill find out the day after tomorrow ..i know my junior yr grades are majorly strugglin

oh and if it helps im going to retake physics over the summer online and hopefully get an A..i had an awful teacher so im hoping that can happen

are you kidding me??? its one F******* C, chill out man.

and even if you don't get in from hs go to a cc or another uni and transfer.

well, i had a C+, and i got accepted.

but i got a C+ in ap us history...

Don't worry about it. It's just one class, so it does not matter that much. It also depends on how your guidance office reports your grades..and your grading system too. At my school, for instance, an 84 is a C+, where at most schools it's a B. My guidance c. gave me the exact transcript that she sends to college for grades; it's just the final percent for each class and the GPA so 1 c+ won't matter. the only thing that really gets hurt is your rank. Did your rank change a lot?

i know it's "just one C+"..but its in REGULAR PHYSICS 1, which makes me worried..

And unfortunately, since my class has 800+ kids, my school does not rank.

trust me buddy, one grade from one class cannot determine your whole entire application. Since the grade has already been given, theres nothing more you can do. The less you worry, the better off you will be, just try to keep the rest of your application strong.

I know its hard for you to think that 'you will be fine' as you are still applying/awaiting decisions, but after decisions come out you will turn around and realize that what truly mattered in your application was the application as a whole.

If you want to turn this C grade into your own benefit, let it be your motivation to write better essays to make up for the grade

good luck

thanks a lot! :)

I forget, are you instate? If you're not instate, I feel your other grades may be too low..

instate (NOVA), and i have to stay in VA.

just got my SAT score- 1900 . meh im definitely retaking it

hey i'm taking online physics too
it is a *****!

but i'm just taking it so i have room in my schedule for AP bio

Yeah it hasn't really started yet but I just know that online physics is gonna be awful..

random question...would applying to nursing or architecture increase my chances? would doing that be worth it (most likely nursing)

Ah, applying to other schools to get into UVA is a horrid decision. Plus, you need to submit a portfolio for a school, and the nursing school is a highly, highly selective school. Seriously, focus on your grades, have fun in your clubs, put forth effort into your essays and don't waste time trying to find an easy in.

Ya, the nursing school is really competitive, so you must have a compelling reason in order to get in.
