My ECs are all over the place

For colleges that judge applications holistically, is it bad that all of my ECs don’t relate to each other in the slightest way? Like none of my ECs are related to each other and this has me worried.

I’ve heard that unis like a central theme of your application just because it packages you nicely but as long as your ecp’s are strong I don’t think it would be too much of a problem.

It is fine to be well rounded. My D was very involved in a number of unrelated activities and had no issues with college admissions.

Admissions officers look to create a well rounded class – that class will include some individuals who are well rounded like yourself and some students who have very specific interests.

I think that this is fine. The point is not what ECs you do. The point is to do them well. Also, grades and good references can take you a long way (this year test scores are optional).

Admittedly it was a long time ago, but my ECs were also not very related to each other, and 2 out of 3 had nothing at all to do with my major nor with anything academic at all. This was not a problem.

I see on another thread that you are interested in biology. There are a LOT of universities with very good biology programs. Make sure that you apply to at least two safeties, keep ahead in your classes, keep your budget in mind, and I think that you will do well.

Thank you to all of you who responded! @DadTwoGirls , Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind!
