I'm a rising sophmore and these are my EC's and i just wanted to c what everyone thought about them (do you think i should join more EC's?):

Girl Scouts (by senior year i will have been involved for 12- 13 years)
Philosophy Club (by Senior year- 4 years (hopefully i'll be VP for 3 years)
Luceat (by senior year- 4 years)- a mentor program that pairs incoming freshman w/ students to make them feel more comfortable in HS.
* a friend and I are starting a mythology club this year and I will hopefully be accepted into NHS this year (freshmen are not allowed to join at my HS)

I have about 83 hours of random volunteer work- i am very interested in the medical field so i called a local hospital to c if i could volunteer but i can't until i'm 18. Any ideas?

depends on what colleges you are planning to apply to.

if you want to go to top colleges in US, then you need some EC's that are unique and outstanding. Also, you need some more leadership roles, I think.

I really would love to go to JHU or Bryn mawr. I know my EC's are less than outstanding. Do you have any advice on unique EC's?

I suggest getting involved in some competitions (math/sciece). If you do well in them, they look pretty good.

What are your special interests? Just go really deep into whatever interests you. And then on the essays, if you express your commitment to them well, it should work :)

Thanks for the adivice!

Oh i also 4 got to add: Red cross certified lifegaurd. Anybody else have any adivce/comments?
