i think we swapped essays before. and i remember reading the former essay you're mentioning here; it was very good.

also, i wouldnt mind trading essay criticisms. ;)

feel free to send me either, or both of your essays. i'll send you mine tomorrow

Where are you applying? People may be conservative and not like your essay about you being gay. Sad, but true. You gotta please the reader, not make them uncomfortable.

hmm i'll read your essay

im gonna disagree with superdrive on this. if writing about homosexuality is something thats important to you, you should do it. this is part of who you are and if they dont like it, then the school just wasn't for you.

anywho, PM me, id love to take a look at it

also, are there actually still people out there against homosexuality?? i mean, intelligent, informed, and logical people?

unfortunately, bondgirl. While they may not be informed and intelligent, they are reasonably numerous in some areas, and not numerous in others. Anyway, if the college denies you on the basis of the adcom not liking your sexuality, they good riddance, to hell with that university, go somewhere less backwards.

im applying to dartmouth, davidson, sarah lawrence, amherst, oberlin and maybe yale. thanks to the people who view my orientation as perfectly normal :) however, in my country, its still pretty much illegal.

I agree with everyone who says if a university denies you because of your homosexuality, that's their loss. Now you can go somewhere where you know they'll accept you for who you are.

I'll read your essay. :)

I would love to read your essay. I would like to give you a comment beforehand though. When writing about sexual orientation I have seen many people make their essay seem very "self-absorbed". You don't want the college to think that you're the only one going through such a controversial issue and that you only care about the problems you've faced. Yeah they want to hear that, but focus more one the maturation and the growth aspect from your problems rather than the problem itself. But I dont know what your essay looks like so it may actually be better than I think, so let me know. I would love to read it and comment on it.
