My essay, too cliche?

The prompt for this essay is, "Sharing intellectual interests is an important aspect of university life. Describe an idea or experience that you find intellectually exciting, and explain why."

I was thinking of writing about my passion for learning languages. I would make it more of an anecdote (hopefully showing, not telling) about my experience people-watching at a cafe in Manila, where I first starting realizing how important it was to learn languages to connect with people.

Is it too cliche? Any and all input is greatly appreciated.

what college are you applying to?
