I posted this in a thread earlier, but it seems to be getting no responses. Maybe it's own thread will help it gain attention.

In my essay I wrote 5 paragraphs:

1- Intro
2- Atomic Bomb example
3- Armenian Genocide example
4- Holocaust example
5- Conclusion

The only downside I know of, is that it wasn't a full two pages, mainly because I spent too long on my outline for it. It was a little over a page and a half. Will that kill my score, even though I had semi-decent examples? What can I hope for, in terms of scores?

(I had the past experiences affecting present times topic).

I have gotten an 11 before with 1.25 pages. It sounds poignant sort of like YourFired's essay. Did you make it a sharp stinging essay, or just a casual discussion?

The shorter your essay, the more brilliant your writing will have to be in order to impress the graders.

Writing only a page and a half won't disqualify you from getting a high score, even a 12. It just makes it harder.

Brevity is the soul of wit, but it can really hurt you on the SAT. Don't pad, but do elaborate.

I encourage my SAT students to always shoot for two full pages, but I've read some exceptionally good essays that were only a page and a half, which I would have graded as a 5 or a 6.
