<p>LOS ALTOS (BCN) A San Jose man who has taught at various Bay Area schools over the past 10 years turned himself in to police Tuesday on an alleged charge of possessing child pornography, according to a Los Altos police spokesman.</p>
<p>David Joseph Welsh, 57, was taken into custody around noon and booked into Santa Clara County jail on the misdemeanor charge.</p>
<p>Los Altos police obtained an arrest warrant in late February following an investigation that began in April 2004, when an undercover officer posing as a 12-year-old female encountered Welsh in an Internet chat room.</p>
<p>The Internet conversations allegedly involved sexually explicit exchanges, with Welsh even bragging that he had sexual relations with another girl of a similar age, the spokesman said.</p>
<p>A search warrant was executed at his San Jose home on University Avenue and child pornography was reportedly discovered on his computer.</p>
<p>Welsh most recently worked at the North Star Academy in Redwood City. He has been teaching eighth grade at several Bay-Area schools over the past decade.</p>
<p>Investigators are trying to determine if there are more victims in the case related to pictures reportedly found on Welsh's computer and any prior chat room conversations, according to the spokesman.</p>
<p>I dunno...it sorta relates to High School Life...but I actually have a question...has anyone ever encountered a teacher who was innapropriate?</p>

I've never had a teacher like that that I know of besides this one creepy guy at my school who's not allowed to stay afterschool with girls anymore... don't know exactly why... and when I had him as a teacher, he looked at my chest a lot. gross.</p>
<p>My eigth grade science teacher had all the pretty girls in class sit in the front for the whole year. Everyone talked about him being a pedophile but i think he was a good guy. I doubt he was really a perve but you never know.</p>

<p>HAHAHAHAHHAHHA!!! Just laugh about the fact that he's in jail for it, and you'll feel better. Do you know how long he's in for? That'll make you feel even better..</p>
<p>The intermediate school's guidance counselor (who used to be my guidance counselor and is now my sister's) was charged on 4 accounts of child molestation recently. The children told their parents, and they told him if he didn't turn himself in, he would have him arrested. So he turned himself in, and now he's in jail till his trial in July. He was always cute with the kids as I remember him, letting girls sit on his laps, and kissing them. He always called the children names like "my little helper <em>wink wink</em>". And this was his last year too before he retired. I think the affected parents put their children in therapy.It's sorta scary to know that you hung around those exact same people. Like before, no one knew M.Jackson did that kinda stuff when he was famous and people wanted to get his autograph and everything. I bet anyone would feel antsy around him now, especially if they had children, cuz they would be wondering what he was thinking.</p>

seriously though, it's gross how exploited kids are today on the internet, etc.</p>
<p>Here in Canada, there is zero tolerance left for child pornography. It was last spring; all over the national press. A girl was abducted from her home and was found chopped to pieces in woods in Toronto, literally. It turned out the man responsible was a Software Engineer in Etobicoke; he watched child porn before making his sick move. Then to bury the evidence, he gruesomely chopped up the poor 10 year old.</p>
<p>But as you can see, he's a SOFTWARE Engineer. These guys are supposed to be smart; not supposed to do these stupid things. Yet, he did. And now, Canada is out on a full out battle against child porn; pitting elite hackers and secret society police against the computer systems of child porn watchers. It is literally a full out effort; and I'm glad something is being done against such injustice. I feel for the family though...</p>
<p>there was a volleyball coach at my school a couple of years ago... he accidentally started soliciting one of my sisters friends, who happened to be one of his JV players. then the cops set up a fake screenname, and he got caught. it was creepy though. i think the weirdest part was that he doubled as a religion teacher too...</p>
