My expectations vs. reality college search

One approach is to look at SAT-optional schools - [SAT/ACT Optional 4-Year Universities | FairTest](ACT/SAT Optional List - Fairtest)
I know for example, that WPI is one engineering school that is test-optional (you do have to submit supplementary materials).
This has been discussed before, here is one thread to read:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/1373734-best-engineering-schools-high-gpa-low-sat-act.html?highlight=engineering+sat+optional</a>
There may be others, trying searching around. Also look at the Engineering Majors forum for ideas.

Also, you have two things working in your favor (beyond your GPA and other qualifications of course) when applying to engineering programs:
you are female and Hispanic. Both are seriously underrepresented in the engineering world! Employers AND colleges are working hard to attract these students.
