I am from Louisville, Ky, and though I am absolutely not set on staying close to home, I am very much NOT against it. Kentucky, though has some good theater programs, as a majority, they are not known as an acting state. So of course I'm looking up North and in larger cities, but when my conservatory instructor informed me about how Evansville had this top-notch program, I'll be honest, I was a bit skeptical. I've known my whole life that this is what I wanted to do, but I'd never really heard of UE except for in passing. But I was like, why not? He's the professional, I'll check it out. So I scheduled a campus tour, along with some class sit-ins, and wow.. Do I feel horrible! The program blew me away. The prestige of it all was totally out of my league. The campus was wonderful, the professors were so friendly, and the students were the best. Everyone wanted to be there, and seemed so talented and dedicated to theater. Like, that's the type of environment I've been looking for, but I've just been looking in all the wrong places. I've had my mind set on these big name schools that maybe accept 8-10% of their students, when an amazing liberal arts university with one of the best programs I've ever seen is less than 2 hours South. All I can say about Evansville is that the program is beyond comparable. Do I think it's for everyone? Probably not. But for me, and people like me, who want a small and personal experience where everything is set around a family of dedicated and talented artists surrounded around you for 4+ years. Where it is much more than a competition, or a grade, or a "school", but also a second home. A place where you get to experience ALL new things, not just theater. If you want to get every aspect of college, not just a top-notch BA,BFA,BS, or whatever your degree may be, then I highly suggest Evansville beyond any other college I've visited. They really surprised me for the best.

BUMP please :)
