Well i got my bad vision from my mom's side, my right eye is -2.75 and my left -2.25, and i think that eye is slightly larger. I wear glasses cuz im used to them, i have contacts but .. i just dont use them. the doctor said my eyes are strained, particularly my right eye and he told me to take it easy on the studying at night, etc .. do you guys have any tips to make my eyes feel better? and is there any way eyes get 'better' or are they screwed up for life and just keep getting worse? also my glasses are currently bent thanks to my brother, i'm gonna get them fixed, its the most irritating feeling when your glasses aren't on right, which probably isnt helping with the straining

Just be glad you don't have -6.50 in each eye and couldn't see the color of the sample contacts without touching your nose to the mirror! No, but um, I find eye drops very relieving, and wearing your contacts will certain fix the "glasses aren't on right" thing. I personally hate my glasses now that I have contacts. I also like going "blind" for short periods of time (i.e. taking off all vision correction and not doing anything that requires seeing clearly). Also, close your eyes when you flick lights on after they were off, because the light shock irritates eyes slightly.

wow uhm 2.75 and 2.25 are bad at all...relatively. but yea def use contacts they are just so much more convient and like princessbell said...eyedrops!!!!! they are miracle workers=]

No, I'm pretty sure your eyesight wont getter better, unless you use laser-eye-surgery.

I wear contacts during the day at school, and then at home I mostly wear glasses. If my eyes are really dry, then I don't bother with contacts. Since I started wearing my glasses all the time, my vision hasn't gotten better, but has stayed the exact same for quite some time now.

Umm, when my eyes get strained I put on glasses. I don't watch TV, read, use the computer - anything that really 'requires' good eyesight. If I can, I call someone to talk, or I just put eye drops in, close my eyes, and listen to music for 15 minutes. That seems to help. Also, like princessball said, close your eyes when lights are turned on/off.

this kind of relates:
I find that when I'm driving, brights from passing cars irritate my eyes a lot - I kind of go blind for a few seconds, which scares me since 97% of the night driving I do is on country roads. Headlights bother me too, but not as much as brights do. It also happens to me friend, and we both have astigmatism in our eyes. I was wondering if anyone else had similar problems, or if it's just us being weird.

wow we have the exact same eye number thingee! And my right eye is worse and it's from my mum's side too lol

When they are strained, I definetly take off my contacts. Actually, straight after school, I take them off because it gets so dry by the time I get home.
I like to use eyedroppers when studying.
And I sometimes close my eyes and rub them gently and I give them a rest for like 10min..
Try not to read while lying down (on your side), and don't do that whilst watching TV also.. I still do that.. that's why my right eye is worse than my left..

lol thats cool that we have the same numbers, but I did think my vision was pretty bad. thanks for the help everyone, i got myself some eye drops and they help a lot! and i've cut down on the studying late at night, etc, the tips in general are helping. :)

I do the lying on the side thing all the time! But I lie on my left .. =\
I'm not doing laser eye surgery any time soon, shaving off your retinas is a scary thought, and unless the risk is minimized, glasses/contacts are just fine, bright side: we're not totally blind :)

Oh and brights hurt my eyes too, but I don't go "blind". but if you have your headlights on a country road for example, you're not allowed to use brights unless there's severe weather because they can blind the other driver coming on the opposite side. i know this because we were stopped in some obscure little town we were passing through when driving back home from vacation, and my mom got a ticket for having her brights on. she actually didnt' realize it was against the law though until the police officer told us.

i am like -5 dude in both that sucks

wow -5.. can you see the stuff right in front of you? Sometimes I cant read normal sized words on a piece of paper, from like twice the distance of where you'd normally read it from. (i'm -2.75 and -2.25)

Just wondering, what does -2.5 translate into when you have 20/something? I've heard from 20/50 to 20/300, and I don't know which one is right.
