<p>I am a parent. Sit your dad down, look at him in the eyes and say to him, “Listen, if your don’t help me go to college, you will be supporting me for the rest of my life. I will be making minimum wage, which won’t allow me to live on my own. I am not asking you to pay for everything, I would be willing to take out some loans, but you need to be a parent now to help me be independent.”</p>
<p>Forget about Barnard and Columbia, not very likely. I would seriously look at your state school. What’s important is for you get a good college education, so you could get a job which would allow you to live on your own.</p>
